Use on TV

I have HBO Max as part of my service.  I understood I could watch on my TV as wel, as mobile devices.  I tried and it did not work.  I was directed to a phone number.  Clearly from another country.  They told me there was some issue with the script that needed to be fixed.  For over an hour they directed me in a multiple of ways going to my cash app and PayPal. It was totally crazy and I never got an answer about way all this was necessary.  I final terminated the call despite the pleading of the person on the phone not to do so.  I was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS.

has anyone had this experience.  I am very upset that AT and T uses a service like this even though it is through HBO Max.

any insight?
