Nippon TV (NTV) - how does this compare to NTV in Japan itself?
I'm not from Japan originally but I have an interest in some of the content they produce. I was happy to see in DirecTV's listings that they have Nippon TV (NTV) which I am aware is a popular station that has some programming that would interest me. For example, Downtown's Gaki no Tsukai. I decided to check the DirecTV schedule for NTV. I was disappointed that a lot of stuff appears to be missing. Now I am not particularly familiar with NTV's Japanese lineup but they do have an English site where they do have a list of their programs. The vast majority of stuff they list do not appear on the DirecTV schedule (and I checked throughout the week). Gaki no Tsukai (which I expect to be on during Sunday mornings - Sunday around 11:30PM or so in Japanese time so something like 9:30AM my time) is one that is missing. Yet I could apparently watch "PANDA Judges the World" like 3 or 4 times on Sunday, a few hours apart each time. I don't want to do that...
So my question is: Is this channel missing content? Is it just a few shows that were curated (or were cheap to license) and many of the shows aren't available due to licensing or other issues? Or am I interpreting the schedule wrong? Can I watch Gaki no Tsukai on DirecTV (or any other legitimate service that I can purchase in the US)? (I'm interested in other content on NTV as well but that's the number one thing I am after)
