"Location not Authorized" error message on LG OLED with RVU

This TV does not have a receiver, it uses the internal RVU.  I've had it set up for 6 months with no problems (4k, PPV all work fine).  Just recently, this error message appeared and obviously we don't get picture.  I have a separate receiver that runs through my home theater and that works fine. The home network and other TVs are running fine and the main Genie HD DVR is good.   I called CS but the operator had a hard time understanding that there is no "box" going into the TV.  I was pressed for time, so I cut the call short without a resolution.

Any suggestions?  Thanks

I have the same problem - OLED 55b6p.  I tried chatting with support and upon letting them know I needed RVU support they wanted me to call a number for Winegard... looked them up and they handle "RV" (like recreational vehicle) support for DirecTV!!

Tried calling the main support line but got tired of waiting.  I'm thinking this forum posting likely will be the more informative.  Hoping to hear from you guys soon on an update.

I reached out to them via twitter and was able to link them to this thread and explain to someone that understood the problem.  He said he would forward it to the network engineers.  Might be helpful if a few of you did the same.

Just a +1 here.  LG G6 OLED.  One interesting thing to add is that if I power cycle the Genie2 (HR17) the RVU (usually) works fine until I turn the TV off.  But once I turn it back on,  it's back to "This location is not authorized"...anyone ever get it sorted?

Not sorted out for me yet.  I responded to their private message request, but haven't heard anything back yet.

Add one more to the list of LG OLED owners who get the "location not authorized" message.   My other non-

RVU TV works fine.  The LG often comes on after turning it on and off several times but sometimes it doesn't.  I have a tech coming this afternoon to verify that everything is hooked up properly.  I will ask DirecTV to refund the upgrade fee I paid to get the 4K DVR receiver.  The limited amount of free 4K content available does not justify the extra cost and inconvenience.

I’m in the same boat. Directv RVU running to an LG OLED65B6. Worked fine for months. Today, it shows “Location is not authorized.”  On the phone with tech support for an hour. (By the way, the most knowledgeable rep I’ve ever spoken to.  He knew what RVU was!) No solution. Sending me a new RVU adaptor.

+1 Same Problem

HR54 software was updated on 9/7, and ever sense my OLED55B6 shows "Location Not Authorized". Worked for 1.5 hrs with Tech on Thursday night and somehow was able to get it working for ~1hr after removing/re-adding back the RVU setup.

Worked with Tech again on Saturday for ~1hr and they have scheduled a tech visit for next Sunday (but nothing they will be able to do).

@AT&T / DIrectV - Fix your problem!

BTW - You NEED to train your staff on RVU technology. The Tech was complete surprised when I said that I only had an Ethernet cable running to the TV... said it wouldn't work. Explained that it has been working for ~6mo with no problems.

I sent an email to LG support and referenced this forum.  Not sure which company ultimately needs to solve this issue, but it's likely they both need to be aware.

Looks like it's a compatibility issue between the LG and the latest version of the Genie software. The actual problem could be with either of the pieces of equipment - could be a DirecTV bug, or something in the LG firmware that isn't handling a legitimate change in the DirecTV sofware.

Another hour with tech support today. Still no solution. Rep acknowledged it was a software issue, but couldn’t fix it. Sending a tech out anyway.

I dont care if the software issue is in the LG or the Genie, Directv pushed the update and should have tested it first. I’m not paying for a bricked RVU app.

What are you going to do if you find out the issue is on LGs end want a refund for your tv, RVU is on both ends and I get it is frustrating, my RVU is not affected by the same issue so stop jumping to conclusions that it is solely one company's fault.
