Local Channel Connector Troubleshooting - Help from the Community Team

 

Local Channel.jpgHaving trouble viewing local channels with the Local Channel Connector? Are you seeing error messages? What about the picture itself, does it look fuzzy? We can definitely help with that! The steps below can help resolve many of the issues you may be experiencing.

 

Quick Troubleshooting Steps

  • Make sure the antenna is secure on the window.
  • Electronics near the antenna may disrupt the signal, we recommend moving the antenna, or the electronics, at least 3 feet away.
  • Trees may cause issues with the signal, make sure the antenna is on a window with good visibility.

Can’t see local channels?

The receiver will automatically detect the LCC. If it does not, make sure it is firmly plugged into power and the connection from the device to the receiver is secure. You can confirm if it is plugged in by performing the following on the receiver:

  1. Go to Menu
  2. Verify settings display: “Sat & Antenna”

If you do not see Sat & Antenna, perform the following:

  1. Ensure LCC power supply adapter and the LCC USB connector are correctly plugged in.
  2. Un-plug and plug-in power supply adapter.
  3. Unplug and re-plug the USB connector to the Receiver.
  4. If issue is unresolved, reboot the Receiver and try again.
  5. If issue persists, Chat With Us to replace the LCC.

Error Messages – What they mean and solutions

“Edit Off-Air Channels” button is not selectable in the “Off-Air Antenna Setup” screen.

The LCC hasn’t detected any off-air channels (or) “Start Antenna Setup” has not run.

  1. Check Antenna location and move to a better location if possible.
  2. Check LCC and its power supply connections.
  3. Check if the weather is good.
  4. Run “Start Antenna Setup” again.

Many channels display “Red” in the Signal Strength screen.

Issue is with the Antenna.

  1. Check Antenna location and move to a better location if possible.
  2. Check antenna power cable and connections.
  3. Check if weather is extreme.
  4. If still unable to get stronger signal, recommend an outdoor/roof antenna as a potential solution.

Channels are missing in the Signal Strength screen.

Possible issues during installation.

Run “Start Antenna Setup” again.

Stuck on Primary Local Area screen with "Looking up your Zip Code" progress bar for more than 2 minutes.

Possible issues during installation.

  1. Reset the receiver.
  2. Run “Start Antenna Setup” again.

Stuck on Advanced Program Guide screen during installation.

Possible issues during installation.

  1. Wait 5 minutes.
  2. Reset the receiver.

Black screen appears on OTA or Satellite channels.

Navigate away from OSD 792.

You may need to wait up to 50 seconds for audio/video to recover.

OTA channels display no color in the Signal Strength screen and say Not Acquired.

Issues with the antenna.

  1. Check Local Channel Connector power cable.
  2. Check connections to the receiver.

Previously scheduled recordings or series recordings did not record.

Recordings were set up for the Satellite feed, and not the over the air feed.

You will need to set up a new recording from the OTA channel in the guide or from the "Upcoming Airings" option within search results

Do these same tips apply to the original AM21 Off Air Tuner Accessory?

How to get the new LCC to begin with?

 

AT&T's entire handling of this new LCC adapter is strangely backwards. With putting all these installation and troubleshooting instructions out long before the mass subscriber base can even order the thing ...

It's better to have the materials available prior to launch, than to start sending out the product without any support materials available.  Simultaneous would be best, though.

NO problem.

I will wait till its release and then Switch to Directv.

Bet others are waiting for this also as for Omaha, Ne there are about 30 free local over the air channels you can get with this tuner add on as the SAT does not carry all the locals like METV, COMET, H&I . Laff . the many PBS sub channels and more.

Cant wait.

   This is a joke, Why is ATT/Directv advertising the LCC when only two markets can received the kit?  This sounds like the same bad market blast about 5G network when no cities have the infrastructure install.  Either let everyone who call in get the LCC or stop the marketing blast. IMPO.

OK, it's now July 2019. Any more word on the rollout of the DTV LCC in the US? Anyone heard rumors of it being available anywhere other than Salt Lake or Las Vegas?

Nope. The LCC seems to remain limited to cities with local channel contract disputes.

Just got a LCC free of charge, I'm in Illinois,  so they are handing them out. Issue again is it uses the same setup as the AM21, enter your ZIP and off it goes, so for me it is missing some channels. ( but getting more then I did with the AM21), funny thing is that the missing channels now, I was getting with the AM21, go figure. guess once someone figures out what this database file is, we will have to play with the zip codes to get all the channels, like I did with my old AM21. This is a lot smaller then that AM21!

I will play with the zip codes like I did with the AM21 using the old DB file (I still have a copy), and see if I can find the missing channels.

I chatted with live chat on DTV last week asking if I was eligible to receive a LCC. I was and had the lcc within 24 hours, free. Buffalo, NY market. I have not gotten it to receive the only channel I am missing, CBS. Very frustrated so far.
