Dodgers SportsNet LA Channel 690

Hello, I am curious if Spectrum SportsNet LA is available on channel 690 in zipcode 93720 which is located within Fresno County? I currently receive the LA Lakers Spectrum SportsNet but cannot seem to find an answer on the AT&T website on this.

Per the spectrum SportsNet website it says “ A full list of CA counties that can receive the networks is as follows: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura.” https://www.sportsnetla.com/faq

Any help regarding this question would be appreciated.

We can look into this for you, @Fresnoguy559.

Will you please provide some clarity on your question for us?

You said the Spectrum SportsNet website says your county is included in the group of counties that receive the Spectrum SportsNet LA channel, correct?

Are you trying to confirm the channel number, or are you trying to make sure that it's actually available?

Thank you for responding.

I had looked at the list below as the previous poster mentioned. I think that I should also be getting channel 690. Channel 691 spectrum SportsNet I do receive which is the LA Lakers Channel however I do not receive the new channel 690 which is the LA Dodgers channel. Maybe ATT missed it by mistake as it was added less than two weeks ago? 93720 is in the actual city of Fresno within Fresno county so not sure why I am not see it on the list and not getting it as spectrum says it should be available in Fresno county in the local market.

I also checked my friends zipcode in Los Angels county and channel 690 shows up on that list on direct tv’s website.

Well the RSN and MLB set the viewing market lines. It might come down to that your zip may be on the wrong side. But as it was only recently added to DirecTV, I would check with the RSN to see if you are in-market or not to be sure. If you are then they need to fix the authorization with DirecTV.

www.directv.com/rsn

Looks like zip 93720 gets Spectrum SportsNet channel 691 but not 690.

(Have to use mouse to click and drag down selecting text to see the rest of the list, as the page is poorly formatted so with areas like yours with a lot of RSNs, some of them get cut off).

what tv package do you have? I have entertainment package and I have 691 but not the new channel 690. I think only people who pay the Regional Sports fee (Choice package and above) get channel 690. Its weird, that you get one but not the other.

Hello,

I have the choice package and pay the regional sports fee every month. Just not sure why the website says Fresno County and I’m in a zipcode in the city of Fresno and don’t receive it. The zipcode maybe has close to 100k people in it too if not more. I have received the Lakers channel on 691 perfectly fine.

Out of curiosity I also checked areas within the county where spectrum Is the actual cable service provider in Fresno County such as 93646 and direct tv doesn’t carry 690 just 691 but Spectrum has both the channels in their line up. (Channel 95 is Channel 690)

@siavik

If you are in Entertainment, then you should not be getting any RSNs. They are in Choice and above.

However if you have the Sports Pack add on, though that gives you over 35 RSN and specialty sports networks (sometimes a cheaper way to get your RSNs then raising to Choice), it does not include SportsNet LA at this time. So though they have come to DirecTV, they are still being a bit restrictive.

Hey @Fresnoguy559,

We understand your concern with not having a channel that you feel you should have. Don't worry we can help explain.

When it comes to channels provided by other service providers its up to them to show what content is to be viewed. That's why you may notice certain area codes are able to get the channel and some cant being that you're not actually with that provider.

Charles...that would be ZIP code (address), not AREA code (phone number).

@Juniper Then why do I get Spectrum sportsnet channel 691 if I am on entertainment? I live in the area covered by what it says on the Spectrum website here https://spectrumsportsnet.com/faq is this why?

@ATTHelp

Hello thank you for responding.

That still does not make sense though in the example above as that service provider (spectrum) owns the channel 690 and they are showing it in Fresno County. Where if I look up 93646 online it does not show the channel (690) provided in my area. The provider owns the channel (spectrum) but then direct tv doesn’t show it in 93646? Maybe I’m confused. But on their website for SportsNet LA it says Fresno a County is within the territory. I see that for 690 they do remove San Diego county likely because of the Padres in San Diego County but both channels should be available in Fresno I feel if Spectrum cable systems carry it in Fresno County.

Dodgers 690

http://www.sportsnetla.com/faq

Where is SportsNet LA available?

SportsNet LA is available in all areas Dodgers fans could previously watch games (subject to agreements with local providers). That area stretches from Fresno County to the north to Orange County and Imperial County to the south. It also includes Hawaii and Clark County, NV. A full list of CA counties that can receive the networks is as follows: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura.

Lakers 691

https://spectrumsportsnet.com/faq

Can I get Spectrum SportsNet where I live?

Spectrum SportsNet’s broadcast territory includes all regions that previously broadcast Lakers, Galaxy and Sparks games. That area stretches from (A) in California, the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern, Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego, Imperial, Inyo, Tulare, Fresno, Kings and the following towns (zip codes) located in Monterey county: Bradley (93426) and San Ardo (93450),(B) in Nevada, Clark county and with respect to Esmeralda county, Lincoln county, and Nye county, the areas covered by the zip codes listed below and (C) the State of Hawaii.

Family, Select, and Entertainment should not get RSNs unless you have the Sports Pack added on (which as an exception doesn't count for SportsNet LA, at least for now). This is because RSNs have always required Choice as the minimum base package.

So if you are getting RSNs in Entertainment, with no Sports Pack, and DirecTV is not doing a "freeview" time for Xtra (perk they open nationally for all to showcase more channels), then you are getting channels you shouldn't. Enjoy them while they are there, but expect any system refreshes or corrections to fix that.

@Juniper I been getting them for almost 2 years so I doubt its a mistake. I dont get all the Regional Sports channels in my area only that one. Its honestly the only one I care about. I still think its because my local basketball team is the team that is covered by sportsnet aka The Lakers. Sportsnet LA covers the dodgers which isnt my local baseball team (its the Padres). I think thats how it works. If its the closest team to your city or once was covered by your local channels then its available in your area despite your channel package .

For almost 2 years could be an error, as others have had similar and when someone finally caught it they refreshed the account which fixed it (to the customer's annoyance).

But error or some weird grandfathered special, SportsNet LA is new to DirecTV and doesn't go into prior options. It is Choice and higher, no exception. But the question is if the RSN is matching the zip codes correctly as DirecTV can only go by the rules the MLB and RSN send them.

@Juniper

Thank you for you response.

It’s just unfortunate from ATT/Direct TV as the local news and sports on local news channels in the DMA cover “Tulare-Kings-Fresno” and (the Dodgers) and there’s still no way to watch the Dodgers even though spectrum states they have territory in Fresno County like the Lakers. I checked zip codes in Tulare and Kings and they both have the Dodgers (690) listed under the RSN on the lookup. The Dodgers have historically been carried out here for many many years in the three counties like the Lakers so shutting out specific Zipcodes hurts everyone especially a city with over a half million people in it. Hopefully ATT/Directv can add the Fresno County zip codes and look into it.

These are the zip codes. I checked everyone and each one gets the Lakers already on 691.

Local channels and RSNs are not the same thing. Local channels are free over-the-air (OTA), and the Designated Market Area (DMA) is regulated by the FCC. RSNs go by their market lines as determined by teams and league (MLB in this case).

In most cases a local channel should be in the same Region as the RSN/teams you get. But that is not guaranteed as they follow different market rules.

I wouldn't doubt there may still be some issues with blackouts of the new channel. To dispute that the RSN and your zip code are not matching, you need to call DirecTV and possibly contact the RSN so they are sending the correct info. I would also verify with DirecTV that your physical service address lists the correct county, as sometimes that matters for RSNs and/or locals.

Thank you for the response.

I am hoping that that is the case it being a new RSN for Direct/ATT.

For what it’s worth one of the main Dodger radio stations for broadcasting games is out of Fresno as shown on the mlb website.

For what’s its worth here is the FCC filing on the territorial rights for the channel below. “Specification 8”

PDF Page 47-49. Bottom of page 48 is the channel (690) and where it shows distribution rights in the Fresno County DMA is on page 49.

I have ATT TV and am having the same problem. Have Lakers channel 691 and not Dodgers 690. I chatted with ATT TV online yesterday and they said they’re working on negotiations to bring it to Fresno. Not sure why they still need to negotiate with this info you provided.
