DIRECTV Set-Top Box Info Banner Redesign

- The Info banner has some changes to make it more user-friendly.

- The following is the screen that will be displayed when pressing the Info button on the remote.

- The AT&T-DIRECTV brand icon and time-stamp will be moved to the left side of the screen. Details like - Day & Date have been removed and will not be displayed.

- The Channel Logo, Channel Number and Channel Name will now be displayed on the right side of the screen.

 

Info Banner Changes

    • An arrow head points to the tab selected by the user in the Info banner.
    • The text and description in the Info tab will be more detailed.
    • CC header will additionally include Accessibility (Talking Guide) details.

  • Last 4 has been modified to display Channel Logo and Program Name.

 

 

 

 

  • On Live TV, the Rewind/Fast Forward bar looks visually different than the old trick-play bar. The functionality remains unchanged.

We have collected feedback from customers and will be making various improvements to the new user interface in several software enhancements beginning this summer.  Here are some of the key improvements we’re making:

 

  • Improved overall legibility/readability of the new UI (improvements includes items such as,  font size and color / contrast)
  • Improvements to the playback bar and channel info sections
  • Faster performance / responsiveness
  • Various Enhancements to Playlist and Recording management 

 

Your feedback is important.  We will continue to make improvements to the new user interface as customer feedback is received.

Why was the Day and Date removed from the new UI?  MUCH less convenient and a very missed feature.

All of my boxes are insanely slow to operate now, since the upgrade. Send a command from my remote and it takes a couple of seconds for the boxes to react. It’s terrible. Why is this happening?  If it ain’t broke don’t fix it...?

The Shade/Fade/Dark Coloring on the Progress Bar or Rewind Fast Forward Bar as you call it is the single worst design choice your Directv/ATT&T team has made on this GUI.

 

Why?

 

Has anyone on the design team actually used it? It degrades the sports watching experience because it blocks the scoreboard and time remaining in a game. It hinders the view of news headlines and stock tickers, it covers almost 1/3 of the lower portion of the screen whenever one presses play/fast forward/pause.

 

But on the Directv NOW DVR Beta the progress bar shading is gone, it is completely clear, we know this is a simple fix, please fix it or I and other Directv/ATT&T subscribers will be gone.

That was a poor move. The revised banner is not an improvement, can’t read the screen.

The new banner is hard to read, font is too small. Deletion of time and date were a poor design change.... very disappointing

I relied in the date and am discouraged by the small font size. Am told I will have to buy a larger tv to help that. Do they not realize the age of the majority of their

watchers?

No, you won't have to buy a bigger a TV, although that would certainly help.  DirecTV has stated that they'll be fixing the font size issue in the next software update.

Thank you so much. While you're at it can you place day a date back on to banner? Miss the channel number in the playlist screen also. The only one that has channel displayed is the highlighted item. It helps in fast search and you know that everything is about speed. Thank you again.

This upgrade is aweful.  Just got upgraded this week.   Miss the time and date stamps everywhere!  Helps with play back and realizing I need to get somewhere.   

 

Also, now the stinking HDMI banner keeps popping up every time the hdmi resolution changes.   Basically every time I change the channel, or it switches videos. (Between commercials and show watching).   The font is much to small and I can’t see which channel I’m watching because of this hdmi banner.  Have had DIrectTV on the same TV for over 4 yrs and have NEVEr. Had this problem!  

 

I also get a delayed response when moving channels... 

 

Please fix it all!!!  I’m so annoyed and frustrated!

You need to make sure that native is set to "off" on the DirectV box, and that only 1080i/p are checkmarked. This will make sure the resolution going from the box to the TV is fixed.

The reason I actually finally posted on this thread is bc I tried to fix it with other threads... and still nothing. (I am fairly tech savvy).

This banner "upgrade" STINKS.  The response from my remote to the TV is horrible and the size of the font is so small you need a magnifier to see it.  Wake up directv and FIX this NOW.  At least give us the option to have the ORIGINAL banner.  What a joke. 

 

What was wrong with the original design???  IF it isn't broken don't fix it.

Yes. I have been with DTV since they came on line over 20 years ago and I will jump at the first opportunity to part with them because of this very screwed up banner and remote operations or lack of such as the caller id log.

I like the new banner. But the bottom banner time is not configurable and it should linked to be the same time as the top banner.
