  • Starting on November 1, 2017 Genie, Genie 2 Receivers and Clients started to receive a new user interface (UI) via automatic software download. 
  • Our new sleek HD DVR interface simplifies your entertainment experience. Now you can access, discover, and manage your content like never before.
  • Dive into your content quickly, with program details, recognizable posters, and network logos, all on one screen!
  • Find what's playing on your most watched networks, your recordings, and On Demand content, all in one central location with our newly formatted Menu.
  • Conveniently search from any screen to find the shows you love.
  • Access and manage your recordings easily from a simplified, re-organized Playlist.

What You Need to Know

This modern refresh to the user experience improves the visual design for all screens in the receiver UI.  

  1. The redesign includes Menus, Playlist, Guide, Info Banner, VOD Enhancements and other items to evolve the user experience.
  2. Receivers that will get the New UI:
    • H44 + HDD
    • HR44
    • HR54
    • HS17
    • C31 / C41 / C41W-100 / C51 / C61 / C61K / RVU Clients
  3. Receivers may not be downgraded to an older user interface. 
  4. HR34 or older will not get the New UI
  5. Households with a mixture of receivers may see a different user interface depending on whether the receiver received the new user interface.

According to the Message that just appeared the New Menu experience is supposed to be "simplified"! Are you kidding me? It's so complicated I need notes to remember how to use it, not to mention how difficult the smaller font is to read and as of today it is impossible to scroll ahead on a channel from today's date to a future date to record a future program. Which is one of the only ways to record a future program since the menu no longer lists "other showings" of any of its shows. So recording future shows is a complicated process without adding it to the "Series Manager".  Since the change I have really worked with this new Menu and I PROMISE there is not ONE advantage to any of the changes you made. I'm a long time Century Link Customer but there is no reason to stay after this fiasco!

I completely agree. I have great eyesight and the menu is hard to read for me. It is very difficult for my parents and almost impossible for my grandparents. They all want to switch to cable or Dish. Being a millennial, I will cancel and just use Netflix and Hulu. 

Also, if you can see the guide, the channels you receive versus the channels you don’t are now so close in color that they are impossible to distinguish between. My contract is over in 6 weeks and if this isn’t fixed by then I am canceling. I wish AT&T would answer are concerns and let us know if they are actually going to fix this instead of telling us they are looking into it. Stop looking and start fixing!!!

I agree!!! I plan to contact Comcast and if I don't like what they offer I have an Amazon TV Fire Stick and will look into a Roku. I have been working with these changes since they were made and it's still way too complicated. Also it seems they are making no efforts to work out the kinks.

 I HATE the changes...the left panel is unnecessary and makes program information so small that I have to get up to read it...I have deleted programs because it is so confusing...I will be looking for another provider that doesn't need to fix what isn't broke...we should have an option to use this upgrade or not...

I agree, this update is horrible. I have a huge list of complaints to post. But for "GUIDE: No more "Jump to" option to quickly navigate to a date/time", press "0" for those features.

Thank you, goes211, for the "Jump to" option. I've been hitting 0 on every screen trying to figure out if it does anything--it's mostly sort options--but I missed it in the Guide.

Kinda makes me wonder, what were they thinking? Oh i know, the CEO's and Ex // corp thugs sitting at a large table with fresh lines of snorting powder with a collage degree sitting in front of a computer that says, we can do this. SNIFFFFFFF.

 

Have to be on drugs to even read the dam* thing lol. Fonts are tiny, what are we? Tiny people with tiny eyes?

 

What's with this world today where everything HAS to be SMALL? For tiny people, gezzzzz......

I agree with several other posters about the font size being too small but the real issue I have is the black cloud at the bottom when you forward or reverse the show. This is very annoying and unacceptable for watching sporting events!  What exactly is the point of it anyway?

Since Menu Update a couple of days ago (Thurs. 3/29), Red and Green buttons on remote no longer skip behind/ahead 12 hrs in guide mode. WHY?Man Mad

How can I revert back to the old User Interface? The new one is very slow and not very user friendly.

With the new interface, our playlist does not sort by episode/season anymore, which is very frustrating and time consuming. Is there a fix coming for this issue? The old interface was much better. Can we get it back?

Recently my menu was updated and I do not like it...it's very complicated.  I would like my old menu back, my bedroom has that but my Genie was updated

 You need to take care of this issue before you lose alot of customers this new guide is really bad. You need to address soon are I going to someone who cares what we think. When leave I'll take my phone and internet service away also.

With the new redefined upgrade changes me and my husband are unable to see the writing because it is now smaller. Is there any way to be able to change the font size on our TV's screen with the DirecTV app?
