DIRECTV App Not Working - App Help & Sign In Solutions from AT&T
Some of our DIRECTV customers accounts were moved over to the myAT&T Experience. This may have caused some issues with how you sign in to stream. We have the steps below to resolve the sign in issue and troubleshooting steps to resolve issues with the app, stream itself, and your iPhone or iPad.
Your account may have been moved and you need to perform some steps to sign in
Some of our customers accounts were moved to the DIRECTV Experience. To see if your account was moved, go to DIRECTV.COM and sign in. If you see a prompt to move your account, follow the steps listed. If you do not see a prompt to move your account, make sure you are using the right user name and password.
Heads Up: If you do not accept terms & conditions, you may be unable to stream.
Make sure you are using the right member ID & Password
I am speaking from personal experience. My mom was having difficulty signing into her DIRECTV account. On a sheet of paper was a list of IDs for different services and multiple passwords. Long story short, she was using the wrong ID and password to sign in. Don't be like my mom. Find your ID or reset your password now.
Heads Up: If you do not accept terms & conditions, you may be unable to stream.
App Troubleshooting
- Verify time settings are set to auto on the device.
- Reset your password. Please do not use any special characters.
- Reset the device.
- Delete cache and cookies. Varies on phone, browser or device operating system.
- DIRECTV Player Troubleshooting
- Test on another device
- Uninstall and reinstall the app. (You will lose recordings)
- Verify you have the latest software on your phone, tablet, and browser.
- Restore your phone. You may lose data such as pictures when performing this. Make sure you back it up.
- Noticing issues with your internet speed. Find ways to fix it.
- Make sure you have the right package!
iPhone Troubleshooting
- Sign out of the app
- Go to device Settings and select TV Provider > Sign Out.
- Update your Single Sign-on your new AT&T User ID and password.
- Go to device Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Login > DIRECTV App > Edit.
- Add Username User ID and Password and click Save.
- Go to the app and log in with new user name and password.
Note: If the steps above do not help resolve the trouble you are having, you may need to reinstall the app. You can also chat with us to look into this further.

If you have AT&T Internet service, you will still need to create a Member ID to view DIRECTV content. The AT&T Email you created will not work unless you set it up as mentioned in the link above.

should I be able to see all of the channels on the "Live Streaming" section of the Directv app? currently i can only see one local channel availble to watch via live stream.

I have Direct tv through Centrury link but was informed that I can use it on my cell phone. I havecontacted Direct tv and they told me to go on www.direct tv.com/start watching. this site did not help. I really would like to watch it on my cell phone.I have been trying since I starting using direct tv. I really need help. My phone is [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information]

Up until a few days ago I was able to watch all the MLB games on my iPad. I have a paid subscription. Now whenever I try to turn a game on I get this dialog. "We ran into a bit of a problem. Looks like your receiver is in use or you're already streaming on another device." Nothing else is being streamed on any other device. Is there a solution?
I have an HR54-500, HR24-500 and a mini Genie.

Thanks for the link. I read through all the trouble shooting questions before I wrote my question here.
True I can get most of the games on MLB.com and it looks like now that will be my only option. Whereas before I could use either, now only the MLB.com app works since the Directv App won't work.
Before if a team was blocked out on one of the Extra Inning subscription games and was on ESPN I could stream it on the Directv app, not with the MLB.com app. And now, not with the Directv app anymore either.

I have directv and a kindle fire hd 3rd gen. In the past I had no trouble with the app. Then, I stopped being able to access my dvr, but could still stream live tv on my kindle. Reading your article on trouble shooting, I decided to reset my kindle to factory settings to see if it would work again. After resetting my kindle and downloading the app again, I can't even get the app to open now!! 😞 ideas???

When I try to login on the DIRECTV mobile app, it says: Sign in error "We are sorry but you are not authorized to access this website. Please verify that you are authorized and renter your ID and password."
What am I doing wrong?! This is my information!!

watch online option "might" work 10 percent of the time MAYBE, and the mobile app has yet to work at all. TOTALLY worth the money!!!
