Streaming limit AT&T TV

AT&T TV announced a new limit of 20 streams on home network and 3 remote.  This has worked fantastically for me with my Fire TVs on my home network and assorted iPad and other devices.  Recently I keep getting streaming limit errors and I don’t even see a setting for home network anymore.  Has there been a policy change?

We can help with your streaming limit error @MooseJijum.

Close and restart the AT&T TV app. Look for AT&T TV app updates in your app store. If available update your app and restart your mobile device. Uninstall and reinstall the AT&T TV app.

We have more helpful tips here.

Let us know how that works.

I have a similar issue. My ATT TV device had the home location set. It is set to the external IP address on my internet router. My issue is I get the "Too many streams" message and when I look at my roku and Firestick, they all  show the private IP address of the device inside my home network. All of these devices are wi-fi attached. The primary AT&T device uses a wire to connect to the same Router.
Is the previous answer suggesting that I uninstall the AT&T app from all my devices inside my network. There does not seem to be any pending updates for the app on any of the devices.

I actually deleted it and reinstalled on the Fire TV and still gave the error of too many streams.  At one time, the app would identify I was on my home network, but that’s not even showing up in Preferences.

cleared cache, cleared data, checked location permission as well.

It really appears to me an app update may have interrupted the ability to validate I’m on my home network?

Note I have 2 Fire TVs, 4 Fire Sticks, and other devices all on this home network.  There was an announcement we could do up to 20 streams at home *and* it was working.  Now everything is considered off home networks and constrained to my plan limit which is 3.

We can help with your home network, @MooseJijum.

  1. Open AT&T TV on your TV device.
  2. Choose Settings and then system.
  3. Select Remote & Devices, then Program Your Remote.
  4. Choose the TV manufacturer or sound bar you want to add.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish up.

We have more here on setting up your home network.

The AT&T TV app is not recognizing it is on my home network.  This is an app issue owned and managed by AT&T that used to work.   My guess is the last app update broke it.  Your first response was on topic, this one doesn’t make sense.

Basically, how does the app determine the home network?  Either it’s broken or there’s some setting that changed and I just need to tweak.

Interestingly enough, I got ahold of support through chat (took several tries as it kept crashing on multiple computers), and they told me something got messed up in my account and they were going to put in an order to have it fixed.  Might take 24-48 hours.    I’ll update this post with the story of success or failure in the next couple of days.

Still not fixed and no explanation on why a supposed default setting is no longer applied to my account.  Chatting today I learned it takes 5-7 days and the first agent was incorrect.  Hopefully my example can be used to solve what I’m guessing was some kind of snafu since I can’t imagine how I could be singled out.  I’ll update again in a few days.

I am getting the too many streams message when the third TV is turned on in the same household.  I am hard wired directly in the the AT&T box and no other person is streaming from remote.  What do I need to do to get 3 AT&T devices working in the same household ae the sale time?

I think I have this resolved.  Not overly happy, but possibly closed.  Essentially as a legacy AT&T TV Now customer, even though starting in February 2021 I got the bump to 20 streams, that feature doesn’t appear to should have been granted us.  So taking away was fixing a “problem”.   The support team  was going down the path of adding it and though they made promises, unable to add 20 streams to a legacy Now account.

So the solution unfortunately is to sign up new for AT&T TV, and cancel AT&T TV Now.  You will need to use a different email address too!  If you time it to billing cycle, you may not have much overlap.  That does mean losing all recordings, all scheduled recordings, and having to sign up again for add-ons.  Additionally, if you use HBO or other apps by leveraging those credentials, you’ll have to do some resetting there as well.

if you don’t want the headache and live with 3 streams, I wouldn’t bother.
