You are asking about the port on the back of the AT&T streamer device? That is an optical audio port (S/PDIF over TOSLINK) that can be used to pass the audio signal to an AV receiver or soundbar. Normally it isn't necessary, as the audio is passed in the HDMI cable, but there may be some cases where it is needed.
