AT&T TV Troubleshooting (Streaming Box)

If your AT&T TV Box is not working or not connecting to the internet, try the following:

Quick & Easy Fixes

  • Reset the box - press and quickly release the reset button

  • Reset the modem

  • Secure power and connection cables - make sure they're plugged in

No Internet Connection?

Verify you have internet by testing a Smart Device like your phone. If you are unable to connect to a website, try:

  • Resetting the modem by pressing and holding the red reset button for 10 seconds

  • Is your AT&T TV box the only device without internet? Make you are using the correct Wi-Fi password. The AT&T TV and Wi-Fi password are not the same.

  • Run a Network Diagnostics - Press Home >.Select the Gear > Select Help > Select Troubleshooting > Select Run Network Diagnostic.

Have AT&T & Your Internet is Still Down?

Use the AT&T TV Tool. It will guide you through additional steps to try, notify of you of an outage, or schedule a tech appointment. I have personally used the app, it is like calling in but faster.

AT&T TV Box Issues

If you notice your box is not acting right, a factory reset may help. Please understand, a factory reset erases downloaded apps, passwords, and Wi-Fi connections settings. To perform a factory reset, perform the following:

  • Press and hold the reset button for 20 seconds.

What else can affect your service?

  • Not having the right internet plan. Each stream requires 8Mbps. 3 Streaming uses 24Mbps. We recommend a plan for 24 or higher if you have multiple streaming devices.

  • Power strips and some surge protectors may cause issues – plug your device directly into a wall outlet or a surge protector like an ISOBAR®

  • Your Wi-Fi connection – a poor Wi-Fi connection can impact your streaming experience. Adjusting your wireless signal and improving the modem environment can help.

  • Too many devices – that is right, if you have too many devices and a slow internet plan, your stream can suffer. Check out our Streaming & Internet Plan page to get an idea of the right plan for your household.

  • For the best experience, we recommend using a wired connection when possible.

Yeah I checked my “cables” and “modem” I’m using to post this on my iPhone and it’s still broken. Why is this post marked as solved anyway? It’s clearly not.

Ok so the tvOS app finally let me past the TOS page after uninstalling and reinstalling 5 times. Now I find I have less channels than I have on AT&T WatchTV, and my library aka DVR is empty. I’m just going to stream the old DTVN app on my iPhone (fortunately I didn’t have automatic updates enabled on my iPhone), and I’m connecting my iPhone through the AV adapter to my TV. I’m not even going to stream using WiFi - I’ll just use my sponsored AT&T data until AT&T learn to get their act together.
