wireless TV box network settings

I would like to turn off the wireless feature for my TV box and make the ethernet connection the only method to receive signal.  when the ethernet cable is attached and the wireless feature is on, my TV freezes.

@twobzz   Try unplugging the WAP and then starting up the settop box with Ethernet connection.  Is it not connecting to the gateway correctly?

Hi there, twobzz! We do want to point you in the right direction.

When it comes to wireless receivers, normally the wireless network becomes the primary network connection. When you plug in an Ethernet cord, the cord is supposed to override the wireless connection, but it did not.

With that being said, the receiver is still connecting to the WAP (Wireless Access Point.)  Now you can take a look at the "Menu Options," in the receiver  by going to Menu>Options

If you are unable to turn off the wireless settings that way, then we can see if downgrading the receiver ,to a wired receiver, will work for you.

If downgrading to a wired receiver is the course of action you would like to take, come on back here and let us know.

As tonydi said, unplug the WAP while you turn on the wireless receiver that is connected via Ethernet.  That should cause it to connect via wire.  If it does not, then you may have a cabling issue, and check in to how it's connected back to the Gateway.

If you don't have any other wireless receivers, you can leave the WAP unplugged.  If you do have other wireless receivers, plug the WAP back in, but note that whenever you power up this receiver that is wireless-capable it will first attempt to connect to the WAP, so you may have to go unplug the WAP each time.
