red x with a three

my grandmother moved in with me and my mom in the process we got a motorola vip1200 and i hoked it up to my existing system one other dvr though a coax cable. and i booted up with tv service not avalibal and the link led is on. the manual said to hold down ok and down unplug it and plugit in and i saw the cogs then two and a red x with a 3 undertheath it?

and i powered cycled it and unpluged for 2 whole hours and the same think poped up. is there someing i can do or am i screwed?
