Recent DVR software update.

I totally hate the new software they rolled out on the Uverse DVR. They have totally changed the fast forward and rewind functions. You cannot see where you are in the recording while you are using these functions. This is a major aggrivation since I hardly ever watch live tv.

I also would like an option to "uncheck all" in the hide channels menu.

I sure can see where I am, it's right where the vertical white line, through the green line, is just above the time numbers.  Can't see that huh? Smiley Surprised

Ok, I don't actually mean FF and REW. The Replay and FWD buttons on the remote.

remote

You use to be able to see the progress bar when you pressed FWD. The screen would also update the video with the current position. Now you just get a icon in the corner of the screen that looks like this.

fwd

It is impossible to determine where you are while using this button. You can press this button multiple times, but the video will not refresh until you stop pressing it.

Sure you can, just push the PLAY button first and the time line comes up and shows you.  Replay is about 5 seconds back and  FWD is :30 or so ahead. 😉

Ok, I tried pressing play first. The green timeline does show up. When you press FWD, It takes about 4 seconds for it to skip ahead 30 seconds. If you press it again before the 4 secs. have elapased, it does you no good. No matter how many times you press it, it still only goes 30 secs. ahead. This is the first time I have experienced a dvr operate this way. I have been using them since the original DirecTV Tivos.
I would understand if they changed this for bandwidth reasons on live tv. The stuff already recorded should not work this way because bandwidth is not involved. If I want to hit the button 10 times and skip ahead 3 minutes I should be able to.

jconway -- Just out of curosity, what make/model is your AT&T set-top box or DVR that you're experiencing the issues on? Because you say it takes 3-4 seconds to skip ahead 30 seconds, it makes me think you might have an older box.

If it's black, you're probably good. Maybe try a reboot where you unplug for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in... but if it's silver/gray, and more than 3-4 years old, I'd call AT&T for a replacement. If it's a silver/gray DVR and you don't want to lose those recordings, you can put it on a backup/secondary TV and put your black wireless or wired STB on your primary TV.

If you unchecked all, you wouldn't have a guide. Smiley Surprised

I just downgraded. I had to go through and remove all the channels I previously had. It would have been quicker to "uncheck all" the add back only the ones I wanted.

The only way that would be quicker is if you downgraded from U-450 to U-Family or U-Basic because the others have over 300 channels.

Sounds like you would what to set up a Favorite's list for a limited number of channels instead of doing that to the main Program Guide.  The Favorite's list does have an Uncheck All option.

You might also use the Channel Shortcuts feature if you are trying to only see the channels in a certain package.
