How to transfer recorded data from my old VIP 2250 DVR to the new VIP 2262 replacement
My old VIP 2250 developed a problem but has a lot of programs recorded on it. I received a replacement VIP 2262 and would like to transfer the recordings from the old unit over to the new one.

Just like every other DVR across the country, you can't.
Your list of scheduled shows will transfer, but nothing else.

Thanks baseballisback - This illustrates a big gap in the AT&T customer service capabilities which if addressed would set them apart. Looks like an opportunity missed.

Unversed IPTV 2006 to March 1, 2020…
The recordings issue is addressed with moving to DirecTv Stream with CLOUD DVR.
Other than a fewer newer DVR receivers such as 8005, 8010, 8110 and 2262 and 2nd gen Wi-Fi receivers 7105, 2500 the product has not changed since 2015. You have a grandfathered account that has been sold (Uverse IPTV) to DirecTv in July 2021.
DirecTv has no interest in upgrading a product that is limited to ATT internet only accounts in selected areas of 21 states. DirecTv Stream is sold in all 50 states, works with any internet provider that offers at least internet 25… including all cable companies and other telco companies such as CenturyLink, Frontier, TDS, Windstream, etc.

As does U-Verse. I would expect an AT&T employee to know that.
Now it is true that some features may not be available on a competitor's internet service, but it'll still work, as evidenced by the gaggle of posts in this forum from people wanting to drop AT&T internet for a competitor.

The problem is that directv stream functions like hot garbage for limited channels and high price and includes bonus advertisements! But yes it does have a cloud dvr lol.
And while it's true recordings on uverse can't be transfered EVER that's not universally true for all dvrs.
