Help with programming the UVerse remote
My much loved NAD amp (pure analog, pure audio) finally died. I replaced it with a Sony STR-DH590 receiver. This let me eliminate the HDMI switch, the optical to analog audio converter, and various analog cables from other devices. The Sony is now connected to a LG BD/DVD player BD570 (very rarely used), an Apple TV, and the Uverse DVR. The display device is a Panasonic TC-P50U50 TV.
I'm current stuck using three remotes and would like to get it down to two. Clearly the Apple TV will continue to require its own remote and that's fine. Yes, I could use my iPhone to control it but no matter, that's not what brings me to this forum for help.
I can't find a code for programming the AUX button on the UVerse remote that speaks to the Sony receiver. In the process I've also lost the use of the mute button for the UVerse since both the TV and the receiver have a mute function, and since the audio is now delivered over HDMI, it appears that the Sony is the right place for controlling that.
Ideally we end up with the UVerse remote regaining a mute function (via the Sony) while retaining the ability to power up/down the TV. I'd also like the Sony to be able to power up/down the TV.
I've tried the programming process on the remote - Hold AUX and OK, punch in the code, test - to no avail. I'm asking for suggestions from the assembled wisdom of this forum.
