All Recordings Deleted with DVR Reboot
I did a reboot of my DVR because my TV wasn't getting a signal (common). I pulled the power plug out from the receiver then plugged it back in. I then got an image I'd never seen before--a cogwheel, then a long line underneath.
Once it was done, my closed captioning was on and my tv screen was no longer on standard. After resetting this, I tried to access my recordings (6 years worth), and it said there were NO recordings! How? Why? Am I screwed? Surely if you can move with your DVR and preserve your recordings I should be able to retrieve mine.
It's Saturday night so I'm going to wait until Monday to call, but has this happened to anyone else? So disappointed. My DVR was nearly at capacity and included pay-per-view shows 😞

Hi @patchpioneer,
Performing resets and unplugging the DVR can cause the DVR to delete the contents. It is known as a disaster recovery. Rebooting the modem may restore communications to the DVR and the list of recordings may show up.
Also, space available can impact performance of the DVR and it can cause issues. It is just like any other hard-drive.
If you continue to have issues with your DVR, we recommending downloading our myATT app to troubleshoot. You can text myATT to 8758 to receive a link.

@patchpioneer If only 1 cog wheel, that was a Non Destructive Disaster Recovery that should not have erased any recording. A Forced Disaster Recovery would've had 2 cog wheels and would erase the recordings.
If you had unplugged it just once, think that DVR had a bug as that normally will just produce a restart like gong thru the menu for a Restart. The fact it was almost full might have been part of the blame.
The fact you were using it as a long term storage devce, that it is not, was at your own risk. 😉
