VEN501 AP

My ap for the receivers is on channel 36, which is overloaded by neighbors and the signal to my receivers is causing problems.  I have had this before at another residence a few years ago.  I was able to login to the ap and change the radio channel to a clear one, and fixed the same issues.  Now when i login to the ap, and make changes, it will not save the changes and reverts to the channel 36.  After clicking the save button and going back to the settings, nothing changed and I have tried over and over, its acting like changes are locked out I guess.  I need to change the radio channel and its driving me crazy because I have fixed this issue before and now it wont let me.

Hello  @4wheelsoffury,

Let’s get you connected.

To address the initial issues with this we would like to review the environment your modem and AP is in. There are many common things that can affect your Wi-Fi signal and cause a handful of different issues.

To ensure you Wi-Fi is healthy and optimized we recommend the following

  • Keeping the modem free and clear of electronics
  • Moving the modem off the floor and placing it on a hard surface
  • Plugging the modem directly into a wall outlet
  • Having the modem out in the open for proper air circulation

If you have the same troubles after ensuring your modem is in a good location we recommend trying out our Smart Home Manager app. This app has lots of great features that will help maximize your Wi-Fi.

  • Personalize network name and passwords
  • Run network health checks
  • Check for Wi-Fi dead zones and find out if your home could benefit from AT&T Wi-Fi Extenders for total coverage
  • Technical support built in with Smart Assistant

We hope this helps @4wheelsoffury, please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Hello. Usually these devices aren’t setup to accommodate user interactions.  However, if you’ve gotten admin access, turn off SCS if you see that available.  Smart channel scan.  By default, the WAP will use some algorithm to find a good channel, but its never worked well for me and I force a manual channel based on a site survey I’ve done, and by the sounds of it, you’re doing as well.
