When is AT&T Fiber Going to be Available - Things to know from AT&T
When is AT&T Internet coming to my neighborhood? We're Working On It
AT&T Internet is not available in all areas but AT&T is working to change that! Below, you will find information explaining:
- why services may not be available
- other AT&T internet options
- news about AT&T Fiber expansions
Why AT&T Internet is not available
- Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
- Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
- The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
- Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!
Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.
Gigabit Speeds, When Is It Coming?
Check out our coverage map to see where AT&T Fiber is at and cities underway. If AT&T Fiber is available, you can order now!
If your neighbor has AT&T Fiber, we can research your address to see if it's available. Remember, distance and equipment still play a factor as mentioned above.
Heads Up: Some areas, or homes, may not have AT&T Fiber, yet. There a many factors including those listed above. It can take time to build out areas for fiber so please pardon our dust.

This doesn't tell me why my neighbor is able to get it, and why I have an AT&T cable running through my back yard which comes right into my living room, but AT&T doesn't provide me with internet.
Also, I have searched and don't find anywhere to sign up to be notified when it's available at my house. I'm EXTREMELY frustrated with my current internet provider, and am EXTREMELY angry that AT&T was actually going to charge me an early cancellation fee if my contract had not expired when I moved even though I WANTED to transfer my service (it was not my fault they didn't provide service to the home I chose). I was happy with my internet service, and would like to have it again and don't understand why the house 200 feet away from me has it and I can't. It makes no sense. Miss Dig found your cable when I put in my fence, too, but you won't give me the service. What do I need to do...hook it up myself and prove you wrong? You give me DirectTv.

All the info you need was posted above by @ATTU-verseCare including links to get notified, upcoming services and availability. its not really about cables coming to your house so much as the length of the cable.
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

Thank you - I did receive a private response and commitment for follow-up. I realize other members can't obviously see private response and wanted to make sure they knew I got one. .

Hi. I've had AT&T internet for probably a good fifteen years. The internet is below average for sure. I get freezing and can't stream video with eaze. This is a problem because everything needs to be on the internet. I had a 18 GB plan. My Google internet system tests the internet connection at no higher than 16 GB daily. To make matters worse Direct TV didn't tell me that when I upgraded my satellite receivers that they would also need to use the internet. I NEED faster speed for internet. Comcast runs up to 200 GB's. The past two days the AT&T workers were installing fiber cable in front of my condo building. Can you tell me if there is any update that's going to be available for me to get higher speeds?? My address is *** Chicago Illinois 60616. HELP!!!

My neighborhood is all townhouses, the next group of houses to one side has AT&T Fiber, yet my group does not. The pedestal is within 300 feet of the house. I cannot deal with Spectrum any longer, but the only thing I'm being offered is 25Mb/s DSL (which people keep trying to tell me IS fiber.) I've worked in IT for 20 years, I know that's not fiber. That's DSL over copper. I've tried calling and talking to people on the phone, but I keep getting some call center in the Philippines, where there is a very severe language barrier and they don't seem to truly understand what I'm asking for. Is there someone at a Raleigh, NC office that could come out and take a look at things to see what we need to do?

This is not really helpful. I know what services are available at my address, I also know what services are available to my neighbors, and I know there are no technical limitations to fiber that would prevent being able to provide me the service I want. What I want at this point (I've been trying for 6 months now to get fiber service) is someone in Raleigh who is in charge of making the decisions on the network infrastructure to contact me to discuss what needs to be done.

... request AT&T to increase DSL speed above 6 meg. Small GA. rural community with FTTN. AT&T copper is only ISP available. No wireless coverage at all (although AT&T's wireless coverage map shows 4G LTE). Techs indicate copper is very good and being < 1000 feet from the fiber we should get better than 6 meg on a single pair. Box is not crowded.
Apparently, AT&T Customer Service sees anything above 6 meg being U-Verse and we don't qualify in our area for U-Verse. We don't really want U-Verse - just plain old DSL above 6 megs would be great. It appears we are caught in a marketing lingo trap where speeds above 6 meg are viewed as U-Verse and we can't have U-Verse; therefore we can't possibly get above 6 megs. In other words, it appears the problem is not what the hardware supports - it is what AT&T names things that is the qualifier.
Any suggestions how to approach this? We did not get DSL out here until fairly recently by DSL standards, so we don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. It really is a blessing for our community. However, if this is just "name" issue we would certainly like to pursue it.

For years AT&T has been the only hardline provider in our community. I have had DSL for 10+years. In the last few years our service has gotten so poor ( I pay for 6M) that I cant even stream a low res video. I can barely work from home now. Everyone in the community that has DSL says the same. To make matters worse AT&T says they nolonger offer new ports for DSL OR PHONE leaving most of the community without a hardline phone and Internet. We have no other alternative. It is sickening because just outside our community to the south everyone has phone and DSL. To the north everyone has Uverse and phone. No matter what we do we cant seem to get AT&T to upgrade the infrastructure. It is now adversely impacting our property values. As of late a few buyers pointed directly to lack of Internet as a reason not to buy. This is directly because AT&T will not upgrade the infrastructure to support our community. It seem AT&T has for whatever reason singled out our community and NOT the surrounding area to leave out in the cold. We have no other alternatives. No cable. And only satellite which goes out with every breath of a storm. We desperately need more DSL ports or Uverse. They would gain at least another 150+ customers.
Any information as to what is going on would be appreciated.
