Uverse existing customer promotions

I just had an interesting conversation with an AT&T representative from the customer retention team. I called her to ask her what the current promotions were for existing customers because our contract runs out on July 1, 2016. She told me that there are no promotions for existing customers until our contract runs out. So I said "so what you're telling me is that my bill has to go up before I can call AT&T to see current promotions?" And she said that's exactly right. She cannot see promotions until my contract expires. Does that make any sense because it does not to me at all ?

Other subscribers have reported the same thing.

I've reached that age where my brain went from "You probably shouldn't say that"

...to...

"What the heck, let's see what happens."

I had the opposite experience. Called about new promotions about 2 months ahead of expiration. I got a new promotion effective that day. I told them I was considering dropping att for twc to get better internet speeds (I was). I got $30 off my existing u200 and max plus. I have been with uverse for 4 years. So my bill basically stayed the same. I was offered dtv but said no. Try calling again And ask for retentions. Good luck.

@browndk26 I think you got a better deal because you threatened to discontinue service.  @spettite1 they did the same thing to me and we went around and around (because that is stupid) and it was only until I was ready to disconnect that they offered a better deal to retain me, which is also stupid.  I have alternatives in place (Roku, Ooma, Dslextreme) and am seeing how they work compared to att and then if all is well I am gone.   A company should treat their loyal customers better than their new ones, or at least, as well, and att has to see if they can get more money out of you first.  Which is a stinky management tactic.

Thanks for your reply. I had already made three previous calls to AT&T to get promo info and no one could tell me anything. After my call today, I am so frustrated. I WANT to keep all of my UVerse services, yet it doesn't really seem like they care as much about there existing customers like you said.

Just learned that my landline/internet (24 mbps) bill is increasing from $71 to $88 per/mo next week.  I contacted att's retention department and chatted online with an agent today, but was told there is nothing they can do.

What's insulting is new customers are offered GREAT deals and a rewards card (up to $400).  Go figure!  I've been a loyal customer for years (have att wireless and DIRECTV, too) but it's clear they don't want my business.  I contacted TWC and they offered me internet (100 mbps) and telephone (unlimited nationwide calling, etc.) for $65 before taxes!

ATT has given me no choice but to take my business elsewhere, and may need to consider this for all of my ATT services.

Tell them that Comcast already has a cable line attached to your house.

U-verse is not interested in keeping your business. A Direct-TV agent said they are going up on everyone's bill to try and force everyone over to direct tv due to them fazing out U-verse. My bill was $189/mo up to $302/mo. Re-dam-diculious.

My contract ends on 10th July. I asked them on 5th if any deal is available, they told me to call back on 10th when the contract expires. I so much hate ATT, I cannot tell you. The service is not "WOW", every now and then connection goes off. I am trying to switch to spectrum. I think their connectivity and customer service will be far better. They won't hold you till the last day to get the deal.

Hi! Don’t know if this will help but I’ve done a google search for Deals for existing AT&T customers. I’m hoping to find better deals that way. They used to have a place on their website for existing customers to see the deals but I’ve had a hard time finding it again.

I will reply again if I find anything!

Im calling the retention specialist now and letting them know that we already have another company’s cables run (Spectrum) which we do!) they want to keep existing customers because it’s COST EFFECTIVE! Running new lines cost them a good bit! So it’s PAST TIME they treated EXISTING CUSTOMERS WITH THE RESPECT WE DESERVE and I will be telling the retention specialist that VERBATIM!!!
