Is AT&T Internet Available at Your Location - Things to know from AT&T

You Want AT&T Fiber, We're Working On It

 

AT&T Internet is not available in all areas but AT&T is working to change that! Below, you will find information explaining:

  • why services may not be available
  • other AT&T internet options
  • news about AT&T Fiber expansions 

 

Why AT&T Internet is not available  

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.  
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

If your neighbor has AT&T Fiber, we can research your address to see if it's available. Remember, distance and equipment still play a factor as mentioned above. 

 

Heads Up: Some areas, or homes, may not have AT&T Fiber, yet. There a many factors including those listed above. It can take time to build out areas for fiber so please pardon our dust.

I am interested in switching to your fiber, but I rent the house in which I reside. What size and how is the connection made? Does anything need to be mounted to the house?

When I chose to move into the current house I'm in I checked to ensure internet was available before I accepted the house. It was so the next morning I called to set up install and was told internet was not available. I've now been forced to get satellite internet with a required 2 year contract only 18GB a month and a $400 cancellation fee. I'm active duty and this really scares me but I need service in my home. When is ATT going to fix this as I was told on the phone I shouldn't have done anything online I should have called. If your options online are not good why have it.

I live in a rural area in Brandon, MS  and I have been using Hughesnet now for a year because that's the only internet service that's been avalible in my area. My neighbors that live a few houses down have U-Verse. I would like to know what is the process of getting U-Verse to my location?

I signed up for ATT because they said I could get a 32mb speed internet, when the tech got here the signal wasn't strong enough for more than 18. I was recommended to get a double line (bonded pair?) if I required a faster internet. Now that I am realizing I do, no one is willing to help. The ppl on cust service had zero help. Is there really no way to get more internet capabilities.

My place of residence is 16150 Mountain Lilac Trail, Frazier Park, CA. 932256.  I am told that AT&T, a major telecommunications company, does not provide service in my area.  After numerous calls to AT&T customer service (should be customer dis-service) I have yet to get a straight answer.  So if there is someone cloaked with the responsibility and the knowledge to provide an answer to the question as to why AT&T does not provide service to my area and if there are plans to ever provide service to my area.  I have asked this question several times over the past thirteen years and have yet to receive an adequate response.  I would like to speak with an executive in this regard not just some herald of happy talk from customer service.  Thank you.

There is no 32M internet, the profile would be 32M to provide 24M internet.

 

The service is loop length sensitive, the greater the copper length, and condition of copper determines service available.

 

Speed tiers 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 45, 75.....

These are dependent on wiring....

The vast majority of copper customer who can order Uverse IPTV service will qualify for the 25M profile 18M internet speed.

 

This is either as a single pair (which you are) for distances of 2200 feet to 3000 feet.

For those above 3000 feet to around 5500 feet can have a bonded pair install to provide the 25M profile with 18 internet.

 

For those under 2200 feet would qualify for single pair 32M, 24 internet or bonded pair 55M or 90M (less than 1700 feet) for the 45M or 75M internet speed.

 

Your likely in the IF zone, 2200-3000 feet... A bonded pair could move you from 25M profile to 32M profile if under 2700 feet.... Over 2700 feet will always be 25M profile 18M internet.

 

For bonded, address has to qualify (loop length), an extra port has to be available, and a free pair to your terminal needs to be available. Generally MDU (multi dwelling units) are more likely to be denied as the 2nd pair does not exist. Or in a heavily adoption area the port may not be available. Bonded requires both ports be on the same card, each card only has 48 ports.

 

Have seen boxes that only had 1 or 2 ports left out of the 192 (4 cards) original available. We have one complex that has a 2 month waiting list as there are more units built than ports that exist. When someone moves out of a unit, the waiting list gets the port... Someone moving in to a unit that just had internet will have to go on list.... Of course most leases are 12 months, so all the installs there generally happen the 1st week of each month.

 

If you are an ADSL2+ (no Uverse IPTV service available), same conditions... Receive (2) 12 M bonded for 24M. 

 

If unsure what type of service, can access the gateway (192.168.1.254) and look around at the stats VDSL will have Protocol of 8d...

Or run a speed test, 18M VDSL will have upload between 1.4-2 (lists at 18/1.5) while ADSL2+ is 18/1 thus expect upload to be around .9-1.0. Bonded ADSL2+ is rare, it does happen but not to the same degree as bonded VDSL to provide TV service.

Good afternoon!  I would love to have the opportunity to have an Engineer look at the schematics of our street. Based upon conversations with neighbors, when fiber optic cables were laid, it seems like they simply skipped several hundred feet leaving a portion of us stranded. We own our home (it is not an apartment complex). I and several of my neighbors are EXTREMELY interested in being able to have a home internet wired connection! DSL, or otherwise! (Truly, we're not picky!)  🙂 We have AT&T home phone already, so there is no reason DSL shouldn't at least be available to us. I would love the opportunity to speak with someone who has knowledge about the construction and some things that we could do, prices to install, etc to get moving in the right direction. Thanks!

i spoke to at&t internet service
all my neighbors have at&t internet but at&t can not find my address for service
house next door have internet but why not me
service person keep saying at&t working on landline on area but they don't know when it will be available( also saying possibly never)
what should i do? ( at&t is only provider in my home address)

I've lived at my residence for 10 years and have only had DSL options. The speed is very inadequate (less than 2 Mbs) and while U-verse is offered to "some" of my neighbors, the speed greatly varies. Due to my distance from the access point, the speed would be less than DSL! However, downloading at 2 Mbs (my previous ATT DSL service) is extrememly slow and inadequate for today and the near future. I was a customer for over a decade and had to switch to broadband which provides a half Mbs more than the ATT DSL. What can I do to get ATT to upgrade our neighborhood's U-verse speeds? There are NO competitors in the area, and only around 150 homes here. If I could get a reasonable speed for internet, then my ATT bundle would be phone, tv and internet...but with only DSL offers, I am left with little to no internet options.

AT&T has a line just 1/2 mile from us but still has not extended it to our property. Presently we are T-Mobile customers with a AT&T land line. We also have Directv. We would like to have a line extended to our property so we can use AT&T for our small business internet and personal phones. Who do we contact to get information on this?

my neighborhood has been wired for fiber. conduit is in place and the signal is there actually right in my front yard. but when i try ordering service it keeps saying not available..spoke with a tech and an engineer and they both says everything is ready just the coverage map may need upgrading..how do we get service is our neighborhood..

I already have a uverse fiber line installed to my home.  What are the various speed choices available for me to choose from.  I do know that the fastest is 1 Gig but I am confused as to speeds below that and also where conventional DSL max's out.

I'm having a home built in a subdivision.  Contractors have laid the fiber already.  What is a good contact other than the search tool to determine when to expect service in a specific area?
