Help With Bill

I have been an ATT customer for 15 years, have two cell lines, an iPad line, U-verse and ATT 1000 internet. I lost my job due to Covid and was unemployed for 5 months until this past week. ATT was nice enough to not turn off my service but now I owe a huge amount. Does ATT ever help with a bill or reduce it for longtime customers? I know it seems like a pipe dream but my bill is thousands of dollars and I thought I’d at least ask and see if anyone had any experience.

My bill is too high at this point. It won’t allow me to make a payment arrangement. I was hoping I could call and ask if I could cut off my UVerse, knock out a wireless line, lower my internet and let me pay off my balance tacked on to each bill every month. My new job pays well but not well enough where I can pay a 3200 dollar ATT bill right off the bat. Not looking for pity, just seeing if anyone has heard of them making unique payment arrangements or if it’s pretty straight and narrow.

I've had an AT&T landline since 1972, cell phone service when it was Cingular and Uverse TV/Internet/VOIP since 2007.  I even bought AT&T stock thinking it was a good investment *eyeroll* but I would never expect them to treat me any differently than anyone else.

You should have reduced your service earlier to something manageable.  And FYI:  Paid TV service is considered a luxury.

Don't be surprised it the unpaid balance goes to collections.  The good news there is that sometimes you can negotiate with a collection agency for a lower amount.  While the debt will continue to be on your credit report, it will show a $0 balance tagged as 'slow pay'.

Shoutout to everyone who can remember their childhood phone number but can't remember the password they created yesterday.  You are my people.  😊

I figured that would be the case but just wanted to see if it was worth calling and asking. I wasn’t mentioning being a customer for 15 years as a brag. I just mentioned it because they always mention it to me. Maybe that’s just a ploy but I thought maybe it would make a difference. I guess not. And you’re 100% correct. I should have lowered my service earlier and I didn’t.

Hello I’ve been with AT&T for a decade I was laid off as well back in March. I’m a truck driver and my wife is a LVN she decided to be a stay at home mom because we had a baby boy back in April. My CDL was suspended and I recently got that fixed but in the meantime I’ve been receiving unemployment checks. With that little check we have to budget all our bills. I didn’t skip any payments when ATT offered in the summer. But now the bills have stacked and my service is suspended.  I lost a job offer because of it and I have to go to my moms house to use her WiFi. I just want to get back to work, at least if y’all can reinstate my service and let me keep paying on it.  Because to be honest it’s downright cruel to disconnect or suspend services at this moment in time.  When I try to get a hold of a representativethe first thing I hear is if I’m interested in a deal.  COME ON AT&T THERES A TIME AND PLACE TO MAKE A PROFIT BUT NOT RIGHT NOW!!! When all this pandemic stuff is behind us and people share their stories, wouldn’t y’all like to be the organization that said screw charts, money gains, who sold what and what volume.  If customer service is your priority then step up.  I know there’s thousands of people going through the same or worse and they want a piece of their normal life back.  Of course the CEO,COO,or any suit at the top has the final say and to them I say don’t worry about your bonus checks being light this year or that you can’t get your usual spot at the country club because profits were low. One day the good karma will reward you.- Luis V (Edited as per community guidelines).
