Funny how the website NEVER lets you cancel service!

Having been with Uverse for a number of years now, I think it's pathetic that this company (quite clearly) designs their webpage specifically so no one can cancel any part of their service from online. This is about my 5th or 6th time trying this, and EACH time of two years the link that should allow it is unclickable. And the link for chatting - also disabled.

This company has been the worst I've ever experienced in terms of manipulating their own customers for what amounts to pennies. It's petty, it's underhanded - and you guessed it - it's AT&T

If you want to cancel your service, pick up the phone and call Customer Service at the 1-800-288-2020.  I'm not aware of any TV or phone service provider that allows you to cancel your service online.

I'm curious as to what link you think should allow you to disconnect service? As @texasguy37 said, AT&T has no intention of allowing anyone to disconnect serivce without speaking to a representative and nothing on the website should give anyone any ideas otherwise.

Companies want to you speak with them before you disconnect for multiple reasons:

1. There are important issues unique to disconnecting it needs to inform you about (e.g. returning equipment and final billing).

2. If there is a problem with service, it wants to know so it can be corrected (whether for you or other customers).

3. It wants to do everything possible to convince you to stay.

I would prefer to do everything online as well. However, even in 2016, companies aren't going to allow that.

We're talking about cancelling HBO ONLY, which is why i cleary said PART of the service.  And having worked for 2 different phone companies and 1 cable company I actually do know what I'm talking about here.

Afterall - there's a CANCEL BUTTON THERE that doesn't work. I suppose I'm misreading that too!

[Please keep it courteous]

Was referring to canceling an individual service as in:  HBO, or a calling plan.

Of course I understand that there are issues with entirely killing an account just based on a click.  I should have clairified.

Besides - the button to uninstall is supposedly there for a reason. Yet it's never been functional each time I wanted to end a Showtime subscription, or downgrade my channel package (3 attempts I recall). Yet if I want to add something, you can bet it worked. (2 successes)

If you can order with a click, you should be able to end it with a click.
