AT&T U-Verse field technicians not working weekends

This past Saturday morning, August 20th, we had an area outage that, we found out later, was due to a car hitting an AT&T pole near our home. I called tech support that Saturday morning and they confirmed the outage. I called back Sunday morning and the tech said the area outage had been resolved, so my problem must be at my home.  A tech appointment was set for Monday Morning. Monday moring I get a text that my appointment was delayed because there was still an area outage. I drove around and found 4 technicians (in cherry picker trucks) working on the problem two blocks from my house. I asked why they did not do any work Saturday or Sunday. One tech. said something about needing a permit for the necessary lane closure.  I think the answer was a dodge. I think AT&T would not pay overtime during the weekend so they let the problem go unresolved until Monday morning.  No big deal - no internet or TV over the weekend.  Nothing to watch except the last weekend of the olympics. I would like for an AT&T employee to give a straight answer.

@Harris1850   They work weekends, I see I&M trucks everywhere any day of the week, here in metro Detroit.

Getting a lane closure permit (vs a $300, $400 or $500 ticket) is probably legit in this case.  Since it was a Sat morn, no city offices open until Mon morn when they got the permit and started full-blown repairs. 😉
