AT&T property claims for damages

 Helpful information to file claims with AT&T

Accidents happen, and we apologize for any inconvenience you may be experiencing. Whether you need to file a new claim with AT&T or track an existing claim, we’ve got you covered.

 

Claim Information

AT&T claims are handled through our third-party administrator, Sedgwick. 

Note: If human life, health, or safety is threatened by damage to electrical, water, or sewer lines, mitigate your damages by calling your local electrical company or a local plumber to help you with the immediate problem.

Once a claim has been filed, a Sedgwick adjuster will contact you within 3-5 business days to interview you about the incident. Please ensure that you take photos of the damage/ incident. 

 

File a new claim

Call AT&T at 1-800-288-2020 and let any agent know that you’d like to open a new claim against AT&T. They will ask you a series of questions related to the incident and provide you a submitted claim number once the claim is submitted.

 

Track an existing claim

If an AT&T representative has given you a submitted claim number and you haven't heard anything in 2 business days, or you've already filed a claim and want to follow up, you can go to www.mysedgwick.com and register as a new user using your submitted claim number. You can frequent the site for claim updates and also contact your Sedgwick adjuster. 

 

For damage to yards, plants, or bushes, please call the BWIRE group at 

  • 800.924.9420, prompt 2.
  • Hours: 7:30 am - 6 pm ET (Monday - Friday).
  • If the claimant is not an AT&T customer, then call the Telco Repair Group at 866.410.7414.

Today's adventure started with a backed up toilet that flooded and made a huge mess.  We jumped in quickly and got the worst of it cleaned up.  But after 15 minutes, I still could not plunger or snake the clog loose.  Pro Tip: even though it's gross, take a picture.

 

I found the flush-out in the front yard, and after popping the cap, another nasty mess flowed out.  Roto-Rooter was the first one I could get to come out.  Great service.  After clearing it, the manager came by with a camera and guess what we found.   AT&T fiber cable running right through a shattered pipe. Fiber was laid in Summer of '17

 

Turns out this happens so often, that Roto-Rooter has a pair of guys just to work with AT&T.  Roto-Rooter will bill AT&T 4828.  I hope file a claim on Monday to recoup the 390 I spent getting the line cleared.  I'm also wondering if I can claim something for the hardwoods getting class 3 contamination.  I should have taken that pic.

Please post if you have resolution. They did the same thing to me and Vincent with Sedgwick Claims is stating that they cannot locate where they did the work or what contractor they used so they are refusing to pay the claim. Even though there was clearly an ATT line bored through my sewer main! They are doing their best to not take responsibility. I have asked multiple times for a representative who could appear in small claims court but all he will tell me is he cannot provide that information.

Though the contractor vs subcontractor legal stuff gets fuzzy, imho AT&T is ultimately responsible. And AT&T ‘s lack of record keeping is a no excuse from liability.
For me in Davidson, I found the contractor (ANSCO) and date through my HOA, but the town may also have a record of when they came through.  Neighbors or a neighborhood FB site may help too.

Exactly. Their poor record keeping has now become my responsibility? I would think by default if they don’t know who laid the ATT line that is in my backyard they should accept the responsibility for the damage. We’ll see if they even reply to this thread. Thank you for your reply.

AT&T is putting underground fiber optics in neighborhoods. They will descend upon your neighborhoods, damaging anything in the way of their optical fiber and denying any claim for reimbursement, AT&T is sticking with this lie, saying they didn't do the work,  it was their contractor that did it, therefore they not responsible. But AT&T is the owner and who hired  the subcontractor to do the job, so that make AT&T responsible along with anyone who touch or directed damage to your property.  There are people in my neighborhood with broken sewer lines, water lines, gas lines, and electrical supply lines. They cannot be allowed to get away with screwing people, if you have a claim turn it in.

Hi lamantha,

I was very pleased when AT&T sent someone out and re-sodded my lawn. They did a great job!

Sadly, about 4-months later, I activated my sprinkler system only to find I had a severed line too right at the hole they dug. Since so much time had passed, I ate the $90 to have the line repaired. Lesson learned: Test all systems that may be effected!

I wish you well in getting your problem fixed. It’s frustrating and time consuming but you have to remain persistent!

I’m guessing, since the merger with Time-Warner, AT&T must be flush with money now : )

I am have experienced a major issue with AT&T Uverse, I live in Columbia, SC and I am not AT&T customer. I pulled into my neighborhood a few weeks ago and the driveway was blocked and my grass was marked up with paint.  One day during this week, I came home from work and there was a truck blocking my driveway and there were workers down the street digging.  It was brought to my attention by my neighbor that the men were digging for AT&T.  I don’t have an issue with digging to install wiring for the service.  I do have an issue with failure to notify residents about the digging and my lawn.  With all the money that AT&T has for advertisement, I’m sure that it wouldn’t have cost much to give residents some type of notification about the digging.  The contractors just showed up in the neighborhood and started marking and digging.  These gentlemen dug up my grass and installed a dead piece of sod.  The sod is brown and has been brown since they put it down.  The only thing green they put down was the AT&T box.  All of my grass around the dead sod is green.  My grass is an eye sore.  This mishap because of AT&T is going to cost me an increase in my water bill and an landscape expense.  I’m a little disappointed in AT&T. I’m really reconsidering my interest in the company’s services. I’m afraid my yard will have endure some more damage. Does AT&T have a plan for rectifying landscaping issues?

I am a long term ATT (10+ years) customer with cable, mobile, and internet. In 2016, ATT performed digging in my front yard for the ATT GIGA lines. 

 

Since then, I have had serious problems with a drainage pipe that flows from my sump pump pit to the street, and I didn't know why. This exterior sump pump drains out excess ground water from an underground spring in the back yard near my pool, to the street. When this doesn't operate properly, water fills under my pool liner, disrupts the underlayment, and creates numerous raised creases (See attached pictures). This has happened repeatedly over the last two summers. As a result, the underlayment and liner now has permanent creases and protrusions and needs to be replaced.

 

Recently when the area backed up again, I hired a company to find out where the apparent obstruction was. They found it. You can see from the attached pictures that the pipe damage is exactly where the ATT cable was laid. That path broke my Sump pump line, and that sump pump has been backing up ever since. 

 

I have tried both of the numbers you listed. ATT is nearly impossible to get a hold of for help. The lack of service by ATT makes my stomach turn. I would love any advice on how to get a ATT Manageon the line.
