40 dollar reconnect fee I refuse to pay

I have been going through some financial issues lately and of course cable and internet is always the last bill anyone should ever pay since it is not a necessity. Anyways I did not have the funds to pay and they turned my cable and internet off for the 2nd time in two months. I understand this is my fault for not having the money. My issue is the extremely high reconnect fee! When they turn my services off, I have to call At&t and I am the one that has to talk to tech support and I am the one that does the reconnection. I have to read to them what’s on the label on my boxes, I have to run up and down the stairs pushing this button and that button, and I am on the phone with them for as much as 2 to 3 hours sometimes. They should be paying me the reconnect fee! This time I am going to tell At&t I’m not reading you anything or doing anything. If I pay the reconnect fee, you will send someone out to reconnect my service. This one customer service rep apologized once and told me normally it would just come back on automatically but something about the area where I live and the community it doesn’t do that. Well I’m not doing it for you. My reconnect fee is 60 dollars that I will charge At&t!

Are you upset you are having to pay a fee or are you upset that you are having to run up and down the stairs to get it going again?  CS is correct.  Service is generally restored once the account is paid up and the restoral fee is paid.

Side note:  If you insist on a truck roll to get your service going, there's a $99 fee.  Just sayin'......

I think you are missing the point. Due to something with my service, it is not an auto restore once the bill is paid. I literally have to spend at least an hour, once it took nearly 3 hours of me working with tech support on the phone to restore my service. At&T is not restoring my service, I am. I am the one doing all of the free work for hours. I will be paying the bill later this evening. If my service does not automatically restore, that’s on them, not me. I am not reconnecting my service and then getting billed a reconnection fee. Also, i guess this should be another post, but about 6 months ago At&T accidentally cancelled my service. It took at least 8 hours with constant phone calls and redirections to different departments to restore my service. At&T is not a good company or service provider. With all of the thousands upon thousands of 40 dollar reconnect fees they get each day, every employee that works at At&T should be getting paid at least 40 dollars per hour. The fee is a punishment, it costs very little to nothing at all to reconnect someone’s service. I bet it is not trickling down to the employees.
