Series recording not working properly

My parents are elderly, they watch a lot of TV. Some shows are on at the same time so we set up the series to record. However, while some are recording without any issues, others are not. When I look at the settings for the show, it says the series is recording but when a new episode is coming on I have to manually tell it to record that episode. I wanted this to be a replacement for DirecTV and it looks like it is STILL NOT READY for the consumer to use. Any ideas how to fix this or am I going to have to go back to satellite?

Hello, @gallahad!

We'd be glad to help look into setting your recordings to enjoy the best of your streaming! When you set your series recordings, you need to check if you've set it to record All Episodes or New Episodes.

Series recordings store, new or all episodes recorded, up to 5 episodes. If an additional episode is recorded to a series, the oldest to the newest recording is removed. Also, not all shows/episodes are recordable per content owner.

Let us know if you have more questions.

@ATTHelp I completely understand what you are saying. However, that is not the problem at all. I set for example a show on NBC, I set it for record series, new episodes. The episode that is for example, on tonight is new but its not set to record, the episode that is airing a week from today that is new is set to record. I have even tried deleting the schedule and putting it back to no avail. I have also changed my options to record ALL episodes, now you would think that this would then record all episodes, NOPE not at all. Not even a little bit. 3 shows Chicago Fire, Med and Police at all on the same night. I can only get one of the three to record properly, the other two I have to make sure to manually set them to record or risk missing an episode. And since I am thinking that changing to AT&T TV from DirecTV has been a mistake because there is no VOD, my 74 year old mother will beat me up if she misses an episode. LOL Please help.

Hi, @gallahad

Thanks for reaching out, our DVR is still in BETA, it may not always perform as intended. Howver, we do have video on demand for AT&T TV NOW. You can get to that by selecting the discover tab from the guide, then select networks, you can go into each network and view video on demand content from there. You can also select by specific episodes using the search function.

From within the search function, for some episodes, you should be able to select recording option. Please note that not all programs are available for recording. Let us know if this information proves helpful in setting up future recordings.
