HBO Go Error

I'm attempting to activate HBO Go on my PS4, and getting the following error:

{"message":"Invalid authentication response","type":"Error","status":500,"code":0}

I would definitely like a resolution for this, the lack of attention to this problem is frustrating.

I got this resolved by talking to tech support and they said my account needed to be migrated.

After the migration I no longer get the 500 error.

Hello there, @mpersico91!

We can help. Can you inform us if you have attempted any troubleshooting steps like force closing the app, reinstalling it into your device or restarting your PS4? If not, please attempt to and let us know if you see any difference after. Thanks!

I'm getting that same error.  The error message doesn't happen in the HBO GO app on the PS4 (in my case it's an Nvidea shield device).  The app requests you to go to a browser address on your computer to activate the app.

This is where the 500 error occurs.  I've tried it with multiple browsers on different computers.  Same thing over and over.

I'm having this exact problem. Opened the PS4 app to have it tell me I'm not signed.  Attempt to sign in on my phone in Chrome, got the above error.  Attempted to sign in on chrome, ie 11, and edge on my pc, got the same error.  I can log into direct tv now and att.

Have having the same issue with my ps4, Apple TV, and even the app on my iPhone is giving me the same error code. This has apparently been going on for weeks according to other posts.

What’s going on AT&T?

I get this same "500" error. I've had this working on my Roku TV for a while, but now when I try to use it, it asks me to activate it with a code. When I go to the hbogo.com/activate webpage and enter the code, it give me the "500" error above.

Has anyone gotten a response to this problem yet?

Same issue. Been happening for a couple of days. I've tried my desktop, laptop, iPhone, and PS4. I've tried multiple browsers as well. Please look into this.

Roku and Fire Stick devices seems fine. I logged out and deleted the app on both devices. .Re-added the app and authenticated. Working fine.

Been getting the same error message for over a week now. Is HBO still included in unlimited data plans with AT&T?

HBO is still included, at least it's working for me.

DTVN is having problems with their authentication system, see multiple posts here about the issue.

On my PS4, I've closed the HBO GO app and restarted the system. Attempting to sign in takes me to HBOGO.com/tvsignin to enter the code given.

From the providers list I select directv now and enter my login information and am taken to a screen with the "invalid authentication response" message and "error 500"

I've attempted this via samsung browser on two different phones, google chrome via those two phones, and firefox on a laptop.

I also tried using explorer on the laptop and it just pops up with "unhandled exception".

To be thorough, I deleted HBO GO from my PS4, reinstalled and went through that full list again with no resolution.

What would you recommend as the next troubleshooting step?

Ignoring the PS4, can you authenticate HBO GO on your laptop with your DTVN credentials? I just signed out and authenticated again with no issues.

Sounds like you have an authentication issue with your account. Contact support using the chat and have them to reset your account. The app is working fine for me using Roku, Fire stick, Fire tv, Win10 PC, and android phone and tablet.
