favorites

My channels selected as a favorite change at random and it does not matter which device I am viewing ATT tv, I use and Apple TV, Roku, and a Fire stick. For example I'll select FX as a favorite and the next time I turn on ATT tv it will no longer be a favorite. The application will also add favorites to my list, for example the OAN and Fox News will show as my favorites and I have never added as a favorites. Is this some bug in the software...or is ATT really wanting me to watch an agenda driven news network?

Hello, @Marqd79!

We understand the inconvenience caused by the extra channel added to your favorites! Kindly follow these steps to remove the unwanted channels:

Go to the Guide 

Click on the Heart next to the extra channels that have been added to your Favorites to deselect them.

Go to Settings (the gear logo on the top right)

Click on Sign Out, then sign back in and your Favorites should be reset.

I did as instructed and it only worked for that one instance. The next day (the next time I opened the app) the favorites were jumbled again. And again putting channels as favorites that I would never put as a favorite.

I have selected channels as favorites by selecting the "heart", but I do not have a clue on how to use this feature for quicker navigation.  I have been searching the web for an AT&T a navigation guide, but can only find a channel guide.  What is the point of tagging favorites if there is no "favorites" view to select on the screen?

More importantly, why aren't new users to ATT TV givena link to a navigation guide?  It is a major impediment for long time users switching from cable which has the huge navigation advantage of numbers and a keypad.

If you are in the program guide, then depending on the device, there should be a selection bar at the top or to the left, or a button on the left that brings up a selector.  The selector includes "TV Shows", "Movies", "Sports", "Kids", and "Favorites".  Choosing one of the selectors will filter the guide to only show matching entries (so selecting Favorites will limit the guide to just your marked favorites).  Unfortunately, the filtering only applies to the guide - if you "surf" channel to channel, they are all there.

As far as why they don't provide better documentation - that is a question that has been asked forever without answer.  As far as providing a more "cable-like" experience - for customers who want that, they did do something about it.  For AT&T TV (the contract version of AT&T TV Now) they offer the AT&T branded streaming device - this is streamer that is customized for the service (mostly by making the service the device's "home" and adding channel numbers) and which has a more cable-like remote with a numeric keypad and some other dedicated buttons.  They don't offer that device to AT&T TV Now subscribers, but if you get one (they're generally available on eBay) it works fine (because the 2 services are really one service with 2 different business models).
