AT&T TV NOW streaming with AT&T PREPAID℠ (formerly GoPhone®)

Effective February 14, 2018, AT&T Sponsored Data will be available with AT&T PREPAID.

If you currently have AT&T PREPAID℠ (formerly GoPhone®), you can now stream AT&T TV NOW (as well as our other Entertainment services like DIRECTV and U-verse) without having the stream affect your data usage.

And here’s more info:

Who is eligible?

  • Sponsored Data is available to postpaid customers who have an active AT&T data plan, a 3G or 4G (HSPA+ and LTE) capable device – including smartphones, tablets, laptop modems, and mobile hotspots – and use the AT&T domestic wireless network. AT&T PREPAID customers’ eligibility may be limited to specific offers.

How do I know when I am accessing Sponsored Data content?

  • Companies using the service will notify customers directly. If you are unsure if a company is providing a sponsored offer, you should contact the company for additional clarification through their normal customer service channels.

Does Sponsored Data content usage show up on my bill?

  • Postpaid customers can view their Sponsored Data usage in the "Data Detail" section of their paper bill, and in the detailed usage section within "My Wireless" in their online bill. AT&T PREPAID customers can view their usage in "account history" online. Additional FAQs here.

Note, this does not apply to Cricket Wireless, also an AT&T prepaid service.

Since version 2, directv now app for iPhone is using data. You guys need to fix that. It is advertised as sponsored data, yet at this time is not.

What means are you using to tell that your data is not sponsored?

I have a 1G data plan with AT&T and I have been a direct tv now subscriber since the beginning. Before the version 2 rolled out I’ve never ran out of high speed data. Now I’m running out in less than a week. My usage of direct tv now and other apps remained the same. I do stream with direct tv now a lot.

I have seen a few reports of this in the past (prior to version 2) - no explanation of what happened, but I believe I heard Support has been able to fix it (at least temporarily?).  I can't say if I see this or not - I personally don't stream on cell data very much.

It would be nice if somebody can get on it and fix it. My whole phone is running at 2g speed now because of it. Do you know who I need to contact to get it fixed? Thanks.

I would contact either Wireless Customer Service or DirecTV Now Customer Service, or both.  Contacting Wireless is likely easier, so I personally would start there...
