AT&T TV Now - App Over Contrast Issues with Amazon Fire TV 4K Stick
On 01/23/2020, I started a 7-day trial subscription of the AT&T TV Now app (Build 02122, Version 3.0.20202) using an Amazon Fire TV 4K stick into a 2015 Samsung UHD TV and have some display issues.
I am making a side-by-side comparison of my current DirecTV satellite service (HS17 DVR and C61K client) and the AT&T TV Now app. I'm switching inputs into the same UHD TV with the same program materials play/pause in same spot of the recordings. I find the display resolution of the app overly contrasted; whites of actors eyes are glaring and the colors are washed out. Because the AT&T TV app has no display settings, as others have suggested, I experimented with the Fire TV 4K stick settings/display/resolution settings (HDR on/off, 1080i, 1080P then upto 4K (color 8 and 10bit) without improvement.
Guide layout, DVR recording (storage on HS17=1TB and AT&T app=500GB), and remote functions aside, I think both services are suitable for my needs. However, the DirecTV satellite resolution is far superior to that of the app. My comparison includes other Fire TV Apps; Prime, Netflix (HDR wow! - Bring it on) and DirecTV subscription supported cable apps. Only the AT&T TV Now app exhibits over contrast problems.
Is AT&T working on a TV Now app version to fix contrast issues, include HDR, or be more compatible with Fire TV stick display settings? Please advise.
