The volume of TV shows from U-Verse are really low. I have done the remote 955 trick and turned the volume up to 25 on my black Motorola box. That brought the sound up a little, but in order to get moderate volume on my TV I have to turn the TV volume up to 100 (out of 100, U-Verse box still at 25).
