Delayed group text/iMessages

I'm not sure why it's happening, but am experiencing serious delays in getting group messages specifically when there's a mix of iPhone and Android users in the group chain. It doesn't happen when there's an all iPhone group conversation, only when there are both SMS and iMessages involved. Any help
