How to cover a large house/space?

I have 1G Fiber (Houston). My equipment is: Pace 5268AC AirTiesW 4971 x3 (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs)--leased for $5/mo I still have drop/dead zones and frequent drops of wifi, particularly upstairs.  I have older 4921 extenders, but i am told that i cannot mix and match extenders.

How to unplug a ATT Fiber patch cord correctly for replacement

IP Passthrough settings

I am exploring IP Passthrough in order to use an RPi Pi-Hole and DNS resolver. Without instruction from ATT, I have a router set up with Static IP, mirroring the ATT Fiber Gateway settings: copied the WAN IP address and gateway; and I guessed the subnet mask to be 255.255.254.0; and tried 1.1.1.
