What happens to customers more than 1.5 miles from a hub when it's converted from DSL to fiber?

What will happen to a customers internet access when the hub they are connected to is converted from DSL to fiber and they live more than 1.5 miles from that hub?  Are they just out of luck and have to find another provider?  Asking for a friend....

Need Engineering department to remove u-verse availability

I need help in removing the U-Verse availability from our address so that i can get fixed wireless internet. Uverse speeds here are only 768 kb/s while fixed wireless starts at 10 mb/s.  I can't get a fixed wireless site survey sent here until the u-verse availability is removed.
