Do iMessages sent over WiFi count against data?

My data usage was unusually high this month despite the fact that I am pretty careful about it. I DO send large attachments to friends via text (iMessage) on occasion, but usually through WiFi.  I'm wondering if that's the culprit.

ATT charged me 4 times in 2 days, how can I get the 3 extra payments refund?

I got charged $40 on May 8, then $40 on May 9, $38 on May 10 & again $40 on May 10. Only one prepaid line, same card, all VESTA PREPAID. How can I get the $120 back? Or even as a credit for future 3 months?

Can I get Call Protect, without losing my grandfathered in cheap plan?

We have a grandfathered in plan rate, that does not include unlimited data (because we don't need it). Would joining up for call protect change my plan & it's rate?  I was told that if I ever change my plan again out of this grandfathered in rate, I will never be able to go back again.
