Can I use my AT&T older business cell phone (Note 9) and switch it to a prepaid phone plan?

I cannot seem to enable roaming for my prepaid plan. My phone is effectively out of commission. I cannot even receive text messages from my banks, etc. Is it possible to activate roaming with a prepaid plan?  

I will be out of the country for the rest of the year and will not be using my PREPAID services for my phone as I have another plan. I still want to keep my number for when I return to the US in 2024, however, I do not want to be paying my current monthly expense for my plan when I will not be using

The title pretty much sums it up, I changed my service from the $45($40 with autopay) to the $35($30 with autopay) and when I did, it immediately terminated my service and demanded I paid another $35. I go in and make a payment for my prepaid phone at the kiosk but the name is incorrect on the top right hand corner. I have my name on my online account information but the Kiosk shows differently. Someone better fix this.
