Slow internet over wireless, looking at adding a wireless N router - question about data throughput

I have found that my wired internet runs close to 20Mbps, while the wireless runs 8 to 10 on a good day. Lots of 2.4GHz networks nearby. I have been reading about adding a wireless N router running at 5GHz to fix the problem. Sounds great, but now it's time to pick a router and wireless N adapters.
