When will the Galaxy S9+ get the fake 5G icon?

Why do lesser, non-flagship phones get the fake 5G notification? Shouldn't Samsung Galaxy 9 phones also get to pretend we're on a next-generation network?

Actually, I am curious as to if the 9+ will get Android Pie and the OneUI update in January, but I doubt it, given AT&T's penchant for excessive "testing."

Better testing than release early and repeat the lollipop debacle.  Pie wont come out till after the S10.

Who says lesser phones get it first?  And unless you’re in an area with the 5Ge service, you would show it.  And until we have phones with 5g ability there is no way we will see 5g service.

The Galaxy S8 Active, LG V30 & V40 aren't "Lesser flagship phones" either? Maybe a bit older but still top of the line.

I was making a joke about AT&T's fake 5G. No one is actually desiring that bit of marketing on their phone, and I have no beef with other phones (other than everything Apple, speaking of lesser flagship phones). I do hope AT&T puts some effort behind testing, since Samsung is actually making an effort to be somewhat prompt with Android updates. But if we see OneUI/Pie before March, I'd be shocked.

Saying apple is inferior to Samsung is a joke right?

Not at all. Why, did they get the fake 5G logo? That would make sense.

My S9+ updated a few days ago and I've had 5G service since. Did speed test and had 87 mbps download with 20 ms latency. Way faster then i had with 4g. At&t is my service provider
