What do I do if the code provided by ATT does not work?

Buddy gifted me his old phone. Code provided on approval generates an error when trying to unlock. Not sure of the 'eight digit' portion of the instructions is generic, but he sent me a 16 digit code. We've reviewed the email together and it does not work. Given the threat of the phone being locked to ATT after 5 attempts I worried I may not be able to use the phone. I have 2 attempts left. Ideas or suggestions?

What do you mean it generates an error? If you've entered the incorrect unlock code it would typically say "unlock not successful"

Some phones do have eight digit codes some have 16 digit codes.  What phone do you have?

Just for an example of Samsung Note 9 when it was first released a lot of people paid full price and got the phone unlocked almost immediately by requesting an unlock code and were given an eight digit code, which was incorrect. Samsung apparently had sent the last eight digits but not the first eight. AT&T immediately had this corrected and got all 16 digits from Samsung  to unlock that phone.

My apologies, it not an actual error, it just says incorrect code.

We are dealing with a Note 10+

But I'm not sure what has happened. I quit messing with it when I opened the thread yesterday... and tried this morning. Went through first time.

Good lord.

Thank you for your eyes on it though.

It should be a 16 digit code.

You can call AT&T and ask for tech support and see if they can dig up a 16 digit code for you. If you are not getting correct information or if AT&T can't help you, file an FCC complaint. At FCC complaint forwarded to AT&T upper management will force them to contact Samsung for the MCK code.  The master unlock code is not something that AT&T has and even if they did they couldn't give it to you without permission from Samsung. Samsung can't give it to you. It's going to take the two of them agreeing together to forward that information
