Hey, I have a Galaxy s9 which has all the atnt bloatware and apps installed. And its stuck on android 8 and whenever i check for updates it says that it currently up to date. I currently have the phone with me in Asia so no atnt sim in it right now. Can somebody tell me how to fix it so it can receive the latest update which is the One UI 2.0 for it. Any kind of help is appreciated.

Hello @1zanjani, we'd like to share some informative details about updating your device's software.

You must be within the United States and connected to AT&T's network to update your device to the latest software.

We hope this helps.

As noted, you won't get anything from AT&T if you aren't on AT&T.  Branded Samsung phones (even if they are unlocked) only get their firmware from AT&T servers which is why you have to have an active AT&T SIM on their network for them to see you.

I assume your phone is unlocked and that's how you are using it now.  The only way to get any update is to flash it yourself, or find a local Samsung service center that may be able to flash it for you.

If you are brave enough to do it yourself, you can always check out the Android Central forums.  There are users there who can walk you through using Odin and finding the right version of the latest firmware that will load on your phone.

One other thing.  AT&T bloat on the S9 was among the lightest.  Sure, there are a few things on there that was mostly useless, but the amount was nowhere near what some other phones had on them.  Easy enough to disable them (then you won't even see the icon), and the space it took up was really negligible.
