Unlocking Galaxy S7 without sim
Per instructions, I've removed the sim card from Galaxy S7 and followed the instructions in the email. Won't unlock. However, when looking at the device unlock instructions in the PDF (not unlock instructions in email), it indicates that you should put the sim from new carrier in the phone. Don't have a new sim. Planning on taking phone abroad. How do I insure that it's unlocked? Thanks.

Hello @Kate820,
The only way to confirm this type of device is unlocked would be by inserting a different carriers SIM card in it. We can also confirm if the code you received is correct in our system. I will send you a private message to double check this for you. Please check your Forum's Inbox shortly for this!

I'm selling my S7 Edge. I received the unlock approval email from AT&T.
I have removed the existing AT&T SIM card, but I do not have another SIM card to replace it with. How can I ensure that the phone is unlocked for the buyer? Shall I just provide them with the email code and instructions so they can put in their SIM card when they get the phone? I want to make sure the transfer of ownership goes seamlessly.

lol... Thanks.
I think my phone may have already been unlocked by a tech at the store... I removed SIM, restored to factory settings, and get a Welcome screen tutorial that takes me all the way in to where I can see apps, etc. Obviously, no calls or anything can be made since there isn't a SIM, but it doesn't prompt me to put in my ATT provided code. Does this sound like I'm already unlocked and ready to go?

No, it doesn’t indicate one way or the other.

I have tried this a few times and only get "emergency calls only" message. Now I'm afraid if I continue it will be permanently locked to AT&T (after 5 attempts) permanently. Help, please.

The number is incorrect it should be...
Enter the following number on your dial paid (including the # sign)
#7465625*638*#
After entering it, it will show you the unlock screen. Then Enter your unlock code AT&T sent you and hit okay. Your phone is then unlocked successfully.
If you recently upgraded and unlocking the old phone just leave in the old unprovisioned SIM card in, it worked fine for me.

The solution post #7465625*638*CODE# (CODE is the Unlock Code ATT sent you) Is correct.
#7465625*638*
then code ATT sent
then #
If you have a non ATT sim this method is not required.

It means your phone can’t work on that carrier. If it were locked it would say ‘sim not supported ‘.
Very few ATT phones can work on Verizon or sprint if that’s what you’re trying to do.

I did get the S7 unlocked. I was getting 2 different sequence recommendations and they were different by one unit. # and *. I finally used the correct sequence and the device unlocked easily. Thanks.
