Hi, if I were to unlock my phone, will I still be able to use my current AT&T call and text and data services during the time before I switch over to a new company?

Is there any risk in unlocking your phone and leaving it unlocked for some time?

Yes. Unlocking a phone has no effect on your service.

You can use the unlocked phone on AT&T or any other compatible service. Unlocking does not affect how it works on your current provider.
