Unlock Request- IMEI not recognized

Good Day

I purchased a phone while overseas, and the device seems to be carrier locked. It is a Samsung S21 FE G990U, when attempting unlock request the IMEI number is not recognized? I've contacted the seller to verify that this is indeed an AT&T device.

Please advise.

Means the phone wasn’t activated or used on AT&T, so it’s not in the unlocking database.  The online portal won’t work.  Since AT&T doesn’t sell phone overseas, you likely won’t won’t be able to get the phone unlocked.  Get your money back from the seller.

I second that agreement.

AT&T phones have to be used on AT&T for a minimum period of time before it can even be considered for unlocking.  Besides the account it was bought on being caught up on the bills, and device fully paid for.

Chances are, someone bought it cheap from AT&T (they did have a recent sale on them prior to the S23 FE coming out), then tried to sell it without ever actually using it.

Yes thats likely however when phone boots I get a message saying I should contact AT&T to unlock however its a US number.

Could I provide my IMEI, whatever bills etc are outstanding I could pay.

@ijmvbo1232

No.

You can't meet at unlock requirements, which includes minimum usage.  AT&T will assist the original purchaser if they can provide an original retail proof of purchase from a valid US seller.

You can't meet these requirements

The correct answer is marked, return the phone.

Hi @ijmvbo1232 , thank you for reaching out to us. We'll be happy to clarify what's happening with your device unlock. If you're not the original owner of the device. You would need to get in contact with them to have them request to unlock so that we can help you on this.

Thank you,

Rosy, AT&T Community Specialist

There is no reason for you to post your IMEI.  Return the phone to the seller.  Get your money back.

Hi

Returning the phone isnt an option, it'll cost more to ship.

Could someone please provide me with AT&T's support details?
