unlock my phone

I have a Galaxy A32

when I received my code to unlock my phone, when I placed my non-AT&T SIM in and powered it on, the unlock screen didn’t appear. I looked up the characters to type in the dial pad to force the unlock screen to open, then I entered my code and it still didn't work. I've tried this numerous times now with different SIM cards (including my original one) and with different codes. Nothing works. I want my phone unlocked now.

Each time you entered the code did you get the message that you only have so many tries out of ten left after which your phone is permanently locked to AT&T?

And you kept going?

Your phone should have a 16 digit unlock code. Did you get such a code?

When you install a non AT&T SIM card, a box automatically pops up for you to enter the code. If there's no box then you probably are using an AT&T SIM card from an mvno.

thanks for the reply.I did not recieve the "limited number of tries" message.  my code is 16 digits. I've used; a card from Straight Talk, Mint Mobile, and AT&T (prepaid) all had the same effect. So what if it's an nvmo? Is there no way to unlock my phone otherwise? Why is unlocking a phone so (Edited per community guidelines)ed difficult?

Mint is the only non att carrier you listed.  Straight Talk uses either AT&T or Verizon. That phone will work with an AT&T SIM card without being unlocked. It will not work with a Verizon sim card.  In order to work on Verizon the phone must have band 13 and that phone does not.  AT&T prepaid would not show a pop-up box because it's still at& t and unlocking is unnecessary.

An mvno is a prepaid service provider that resells AT&T service. Cricket, H2O, Straight Talk, Net10, and a couple dozen more service providers Cell AT&T service as a prepaid discounted phone provider. AT&T unlocked phones will work on any of those service providers. All you do is install the SIM card and activate and pay for prepaid service.

Hello @whatshuh, we're happy to help with the options to unlock device.

In addition, to the information provided by @formerlyknownas If you have received the 16-digit code to unlock the device, follow these steps:

1. Power off the device, remove the battery, and insert a non-AT&T SIM card.

2. Re-insert the battery and power on the device with non-AT&T SIM.

3. The device displays "Enter the device unlock code."

4. Enter the sixteen-digit unlock code.

If the steps above do not work, try a different Non- AT&T SIM and follow the unlock steps. We're here if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.
