Still have not received S21+ Android 13/One UI 5 update

From what I understand the S21+ Android 13/One UI 5 update has been out for a few days now and I still have not received the update. My phone is an AT&T branded model. Should I be worried that I will not get the update?

@formerlyknownas

BTW... I don't know what Android 13 was expected to do, but I noticed zero change in my phone.  Nothing new.

It just means that you'll continue to get monthly security updates through all of next year.  Then drops you to quarterly updates. :)

Curious about what the changes really are.  From what I've read, some of the changes include:

  • The notification shade layout.
  • Theming and colors.
  • Some new widget options.
  • Lockscreen customizations (some carried over from the Good Lock Lockstar applet)

There's supposed to be quite a few more, but most are buried in Settings, or behind the scenes kind of things.

There's also further app notification customizations, although they are pretty extensive already.  The one thing I'm still waiting on that BlackBerry had since the early 2000s was per app notification sound volume level settings. There are some apps that I want the notification sound to play a bit loud, while others I want a lot quieter.  So now, I have to make several copies of any particular notification sound file I might use - the original and a softer one.  Nearly 20 years later and Android still can't figure out how to set notification volume levels on a per app basis.

I have Baseband G998USQS5CVIG. I read a post that the Android 13 update had been posted on October 31 for this phone. However, I keep on checking for it and my phone says it has the current update and is still on Android 12. What's going on?

Operating system updates roll out by IMEI starting with the newer units working backwards. I would not yet be concerned that you have not received the Android 13 update. If you would like to talk to AT&T tech support, call and ask for them they will ask for your IMEI and build number.

FYI if you use the word upgrade with support they will assume you want a new phone. Operating systems update

Thanks for the prompt responded formerlyknownas!!! I place a call to ATT Tech Support and "apparently" there is no pending updates for my device.

Don't know what else to do.

At&t doesn't even have the most current build number on the website.  So updates have rolled out, but aren't being noted on the website.  😒

https://www.att.com/device-support/article/wireless/KM1428542/Samsung/SamsungSMG998U

I have a unlocked USA version of the s22 and I didn't get my Android 13 update until the Saturday  before Thanksgiving.  Supposedly, Verizon and T-Mobile customers got their updates before unlocked an AT&T versions. 🤷🏼‍♀️

AT&T is slacking

When was the last time your phone had a security patch or any update? If it's been keeping up, I wouldn't worry about it. If it rolls around to January and you still have no recent patches or updates, then file an FCC complaint.  Routine FCC complaints don't actually do anything. But it does for the complaint back to AT&T upper management rather than a routine customer service rep. And the advantages they call you instead of you having to call them.

Hello

Do you know when S21 ultra (SM-G988U1) XAA/ATT will receive the Android 13 upgrade?

It seems that most of other countries already got the last version.

Thank you for your reply.

Hello, @Michel_D! We understand wanting to have the latest software update on your S21 Ultra.

We currently do not have the exact date of the Android 13 update, it currently shows the Android 13 as the latest version. To check for the latest software update:

  • Make sure your device is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Swipe down from the Notification bar and select Settings.
  • Scroll to and select Software update, then Check for updates.

Keep in mind that you can also contact Samsung support for push notifications regarding software updates.

We hope this information helps, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

ATTHelp,

You said "We currently do not have the exact date of the Android 13 update, it currently shows the Android 13 as the latest version. To check for the latest software update:".....was that a mistype and you meant currently shows Android 12 or as u stated, Android 13? I have checked for update and mine still has Android 12 ONE UI 4.1.

Verizon and T-Mobile users supposedly have theirs... :( I guess if you're making sure it's bug free than maybe the wait will be worth it.
