Software updates

I have a galaxy tablet S5E which hasn't received an update since June 2020. Does any one know how often at&t updates there tablets? 7 months seems to me to be a long time to go without some kind of an update.

Seven months is quite a while, @lonewolf0756!

There have been a couple of releases since your last update. However, there are steps you can take to try to resolve your experience. Allow us to help!

If you haven't already, try resolving your experience by power cycling your device:

  1. Press and hold the Power/Lock button, then select Power off.
  2. Select Power off again to confirm.
  3. To turn the device back on, press and hold the Power/Lock button until the screen lights up.

This action helps clear the stored cache on your device and can help it run efficiently. Additionally, it's possible to check for updates simply by following these instructions:

  1. From the Settings screen, scroll to and select Software update.
  2. Select Check for updates.
  3. Select OK.
    • If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts.Note: If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update. If an update is not available, select OK.

As recommended at our Device Support Center, there are specific steps to take before getting started. One such step is connecting your device to Wi-Fi as updates are pushed Over The Air (OTA).

Let us know how they worked for you.

No this did not help. My tablet still shows last update last June and software is up to date. I was under the assumption that the tablets were updated at least quarterly.

Hi @lonewolf0756

We'd suggest resetting your network settings and then checking for updates again. If that doesn't work, try a factory reset after backing up your data.

Hello @lonewolf0756,

Thanks for testing out the resources we provided.

An advised next step would be reaching out to the Samsung and inquiring with them.

Please let us know if they were able to resolve the software concern.
