Sim card not reading , No service

My phone's sim card is not working.  The phone alerted me that the sim card was unreadable. I ejected the sim card and it looks to be in good shape but the phone will not recognize it. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi there, llmetzger24. Let's look into what's going on with your SIM card and why you're receiving that message.

In order to provide adequate support we need to know more about your experience:

  • What happens when you restart your phone? After using a clean dry cloth to clear the SIM card of any dust or debris that might have collected on it you will want to insert the SIM back into your phone then power it on.
    • If it won't connect, power the phone off for 1-2 minutes before powering it on again. This step gives your phone a second chance to connect to your wireless carrier's network.
      • If you need help restarting your device, then use our Device Support Center to get started. After selecting your device's make and model, choose Troubleshooting followed by Reset Device. Make sure to apply the steps as they're presented.

However, if your calls drop then it's likely that your SIM card will need to be replaced as recommended by @formerlyknownas. You can do so simply visit your nearest AT&T Store.

Doing this will resolve your experience. At times, your SIM card will need to be replaced especially if you've had it for a while and haven't changed it before.

We hope this info helps. Let us know if you need any assistance with AT&T products and services.
