Hello there @vnorman1993!

Let's look into what could be going on with your phone's reception while you're on a call. We like to know more about your experience.

  • Does your poor reception experience occur everywhere or in a single location?
  • How long has this been going on?
  • What is the signal strength of your device?

If you haven't already tried, we recommend to power your device completely off then back on again. This action usually corrects minor errors and allows the phone to run efficiently.

Also, if you're at home, make sure that your device is using cellular rather than Wi-Fi Calling.

Let us know how this worked for you.

The reception isn't bad. This has been going on for a few months I got a replacement device about two months ago and still have the problem. I've tried all the basic trouble shooting including restarting the device. My signal is either all bars with 4G or 2 or 3 bars with 5g

Hello, @vnorman1993,

Thanks for that information. Check to see if your S8+ needs a software update and, if so, update your device manually. Do this:

  1. Make sure your S8+ is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. Swipe down from Notifications and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap System, then Software Update.
  4. Tap Check For Updates.
  5. Follow the on screen prompts to download and install the update.

If that doesn't help, or if your device doesn't need an update, let us know so we can investigate further.
