S8+ keeps wanting to update.

I went through a software update completely to "done" since then the pop up continues to come up and say update available. I have updated 4 or 5 times through it and it keeps coming back. How can I get this to stop and remove the icon?

Hi @Rknorr,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We'd love to help you eliminate this notification. To do so, we'd like for you to try wiping your cache partition first. You can do this by:

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Let us know if you are still receiving the notification after this!

I have went through all of these steps 3 times and I still instantly am getting the software update notification. It won't go away and if I tell it to remind me later eventually it will just update on it's own without my allowing it to and the notification comes right back after it does it on it's own. I'm very frustrated with it and close to choosing a new phone/provider.

Keep updating. What's probably happened is that the phone hasn't updated the software in a while and there's a new update available, but it can't install until the older updates are completed first.
